got me 2500 @ a cash converter store, was @ the time like 4 months old or som, for 900 bucks. I think the guy bought it, got broke and sold it again lol, quite a shame though buying it and then having 2 sell it again.

bro to some up:
1000 + the JJ OS= 2500 (- few hardware + recording advantages)
If you can buy the 2500 for less then the 1000 go for the 2500, if not just buy the 1000, new pads, put JJ OS on it and you'll have some xtra money for other things

The real advantages to me are purely hardware as a few have said. I would go with a 2500 if it was my only/main sampler, since i use my mpc for sequencing, the 2500 has little advantages.

The 8 outs would be the big selling point for me, the pads used to be, i haven't upgraded mine yet so i don't know how different the new ones are. Then the extra midi connections are helpful but even using outboard, it's only a convience thing, not enough to get me. The tilt screen is purely a convinece thing. Outside of those things, i see no difference.

I will personally probably upgrade to a 2500 at some point, not because it's necessarily worth it money wise, but if i own it for years and years, the convenience of the small things become signficant.
