I wanted to know what was the difference if any between the MPC 1000 and MPC 2500? The 1000 is described as a groove station and the 2500 as a sampler. The sliders look different to me 2. Let me know what you know!

2500 has more midi and audio outputs for one. There are a few more differences, but I'm not big on the 2500 so somebody else might have those answers. The 2500 is superior but the MPC is practically just as capable. With ram expansion, a hard drive kit, and JJOS you basically have a machine very similar to the 2500 for far less. The JJOS is the real winner though. It unlocks tons of new features for the MPC 1000 that Akai did not include. If you look for a 1000, just make sure it has the new pads.

what is jjos?

JJ OS stands for Japanese Jenius Operating System. Like Inverted314 said, it basically just has tons of features that make the MPC 1000 do things that the MPC 2500 can do.

They're both samplers, get the JJ OS and the RAM upgrade and they're essentially the same machine.

The 2500 does have some hardware advantages that the 1000 can't match.

there is no vs. the 2500 is a better buy i had the 1000,2000xl,2500 and now the 4000

Monet wise the 1000 outshines the 2500

If you got money to spend get the 2500. If you are on a budget gwt the 1000 used.... you cant get any cheaper/better than the 1000.

In terms of bang for the buck the 1000 + the JJ OS has an advantage if you're on a budget. As a matter of fact in terms of feature set a used 1000 and JJ can be a real bargain. However Like said before there are some hardware advantages that you don't have on the 1000. Also ( and granted his is subjective) the 2500 does feel better to me than the 1000.

2500 is better...for two reason.s..i can hear a live instrument ie bass with the record thru...and two that grid editor is similar to being software ie FL....

So Mpc1000 + JJ OS 4.9 + pad upgrade = MPC 2500 and 600 dollars for something else ????

the latest jjos update gives the mpc 1000 that grid editor, but that live instrument thing is nice...so you can plug in a keyboard directly to the 2500 with no need of a mixer?

Yeah, it's great for when you're on the road, just need one amp. It also does direct recording, which is nice.
