So im lookin at getting my first mpc and im thinking bout getting the Black mpc 1000 cus of the pad upgrades n all that, but ive been reading different mpc forums and some ppl are saying that not all of the black mpc's have the pad upgrade..anyone know if this is true? is akai making the newest black mpc 1000's with the pad upgrade (in case i buy it brand new)?

There are 3 MPC 1000 models. The MPC 1000 Blue model, MPC 1000BK, and the MPC 1000BK-N. Both the blue and BK model don't have the pad upgrades, but the BK-N does. Which is the newer one that will probably cost you a grand. It really depends though whether you want to get it. I know a few people who haven't had any pad problems yet. You could probably save you some money too, which could go towards the RAM upgrade and CF card. But if you don't want to risk it then by all means go ahead and buy the MPC 1000 new.

thanks dude...that really helps...it would be great if i could get the mpc 1000bk-n used for cheap lol....guess i'll just havta steal it lol, jk

oooh one last question...how can you tell the difference between the new, upgraded pads and the regular ones? i know you can open up the mpc and if the pads are connected they are the new ones, but is there a way you can tell just by looking at it...like say if i were about to buy it and couldnt open it up right there?

I tried looking on the Akai website but I didn't find anything on there about upgrading.

buy a used 1.. even a blue 1.. change the face plate. and make sum upgrades as yo need.. (never be able to tell)

Yea you can get a nice used one and the pad upgrade and still come out under $700.
