Most soulful instrument

well basically it will come down to "which instrument has the most control/expression" . For example, a human voice can be real soulful because the performer has complete control of it . On piano, you can basically just choose , which notes and how hard to hit them, you cant do vibrato , portamento , or crescendo on the piano (but you can with an organ, and a saxaphone, so be prepared to get them alot in this thread). But i will still have to go with the piano , for the most part

Gimme a link! I only got other songs by searching on utube.

Gonna have to go with the Erhu on this one..

Not the best example, but still..

The Piano is the greatest instrument ever created. It can be happy, sad, mellow, dramatic, etc. Don't get me wrong I love a great guitar/sax/strings/organ but as far as versatility goes, the piano is the one.

The drums!
Nothing gets to the soul like a funky drum break haha..
Nah I would go with a piano, esp. some fender rhodes. All instruments can create an emotion, just depends on who plays/writes it on how emotional it can get

I love the Bass, its like the guts of any song. A well orchestrated bass will stir up something in you and bring the soulful feeling out a song.

Understood....I wasn't saying your opinion was wrong or anything. Sorry for the confusion. I was trying to get an understanding of which instrument in particular in the string section.

"Change Gon Come" is an amazing song. Which version is your favorite Kyng? My favorite is the Allman Brothers'

Sam Cooke Sir

Soul? The Fender Rhodres, No Question. Check for any old Stevie Wonder, or any other greasy, sexy music, and you will find the Rhodes creepin' around in the bg...

saxophone, esp. soprano, guitar, yea, but more of a bass...and trumpet, but soul is more of a feeling....cuz you can use all these instruments and its nowhere near soulful lol
^^True
couldn't agree more
