mixers that's faders move by themselves

what are those mixers i see in music videos and stuff with the faders moving by themselves? do they remember the settings froma sequence or what?

There are plenty of consoles available with flying faders. From three-quarter-million dollar SSL's, Euphonix and modified Amek consoles, down to lowly Mackie d8b's, Berry's and Tascams.
 
Various peices of equipment have motorized faders.

There are some MIDI controllers for instance that have this feature, and respond to feedback from sequencers, etc. to duplicate physically wahtever is happening in software.

Many audio mixers have both motorized faders and automation features to store mixes and settings.
 
i remember the first time i saw them was in that big and pac vid for runnin, and i swear the first thing i thought was it was their ghosts.

yes that was incredibly stupid but it was the first thing that popped up lol and i dindt ikno **** about production.

then another thing i thought was they green screend someone movin them up lol again.. i wasnt into production at the time
 
Its also called automation, they are also incorporated into your software mixers within your recording software.

If you look really closely, you can see the fishing line pulling the faders up and down. But sometimes they use "stop motion" animation for those videos, too.
