I bought a new DJ mixer a week ago-A stanton SMX-201, I hooked it up to my MPC 1k, and when i turn the Mixers Master up and the MPC's REC LVL up, im getting signal activity on my MPC's screen(in REC window's meters) when no Record/other source is playing. I dont even get the Master( on dj mixer) or the REC LVL( on MPC) turned half way up before it shows slight activity on the right channel. Im using good cables, a good turntable, a good cartridge, and this isnt the first DJ Mixer i ever owned. The one i had before the Stanton was an old Numark i got 11 years ago in a turntable package i copped..It was beat down, and was just a basic 2 ch mixer with no eq,BUT it didnt give me this problem, but i was using the outputs that werent effected by the master.. The stanton only has 1 pair of outs, and if it did have 2 pair i'd still use the ones im using so the eq would have effect on the out going signal.. Anyone out there that got any ideas? I tried everything...Rewiring the mixer, the cartridge, plugging the power supply in somewhere else, i tried using different cables, a different cartridge....u name it i tried it, but maybe i overlooked something...Please help if u can... Thanx in advance

I dont get it it? Is it clipping or sumthin, you were kinda uncleare with your question

no clipping, im just getting signal activity when theres no signal---u know when u stomp ur feet and it shows a signal? well i dont have to stomp my feet, it shows signal activity when no sample source is playing/sending as signal...

ahhh, Do you here a buzz? what do you exactly here, Have you tried turning down the output on your Mpc? and then just using the gain on the mixer? Are you running your mpc threw the mixer then to your soundcard? Beocuse you can easily Eliminate the mixer from the chain and go straight into your soundcard. Also is there a ground noise reduction button on there? its like a 80hz options. alot of preamps have it.

naw no buzzing, but if I turn the gain and master up a lil more i'll get a lite hum in my sample. I dont use the PC for anything except for Backup and to transfer my beats to so i can burn them on a cd... MPC1k,Alesis Micron,Stanton SMX-201 Dj Mixer,Behringer Xenyx 808 Mixer,Stanton TT,Technics TT,Tascam DP-o1, and 27 years worth of Vinyl.... Also theres no noise reduction button on the mixer... Do u get a signal showing on ur MPC's Sample window, when no sound source is playing? Im going to hook up my old mixer and use the Master outputs instead of the ones marked REC, and see what happens, if the same thing happens then maybe its not a problem, its just how it is....Until i get to do that later today and im still open to all advice... Peace and Thanx.

hmm....So your just tring to sample? Dont be offended by any suggestion, im not tring to question your intelegance, but do you have your table grounded properly? From what i understand you going straight from the dj mixxer into your Mpc right? And naw dude i gets no sound in mine, Unless i have the record gain up to high, maybe thats it? have you tried different cables? Allso make sure your using the correct power supply for mixer. ummm....try hooking up the mixer to sumthin else to see if you have a problom. CHeck the mixer and make sure your fader is at 0 and your gain in the middle. i have a staton also, and it has a gain control for each chanell.

By the way, is your table spinning when you turn up that stuff, maybe that might be the problom, You know that needles can slightly pick up noise and background stuff, also if you have like a radio station near you it might be picking up its frequencies, Its kinnda hard to call this tho. But i would say turn your rec level down on your Mpc?
