Interesting theory. I wonder whether we'll ever see the "real" 50 again, like I wonder whether the ripper will come back again one day as good as he used to be. I saw LL live not in ancient history and he could still very much hold his own. His current status seems to be due to him wanting to pursue other avenues in popular music. If he wanted to be more skill-based or back to his roots he could definitely do it it's just a question of his own interest level and balancing his familial/professional responsibilities. He probably won't do it because now you can't have the pop limelight and be skills-based simultaneously.

remember he made an error with " clap back" he was emulatin' a monster with bottles and asses and guns...

now he got to find another concept to sell records.
