Ok, to try and help clean the forum a bit and enable a number of questions to be answered swiftly - there will be a sticky here with lists of recommended VSTs. To start with it may be a bit messy but it will be tidied up in due course (shareware / freeware/ instruments / effects etc).

Please feel free to post lists (preferably with links and basic details).

All links and lists will be copied to my original post so as to keep them all in one (save reading through a large thread) - and evetually all replies will be deleted to keep it clean.

Rough Rider is a modern compressor with a bit of "vintage" style bite and a uniquely warm sound. I was wondering if you guys had any advice on free tube emulater/tape saturation or tape delay and a good gate/trance gate.

FabFilter Timeless - a lot of hype and good reviews. I've yet to check out this new beast in the house.

You can Google any of these; they are all freely available legally. The ‘CM’ ones need a purchase of a magazine, but you get a lot of good stuff for the $15 asking price, so I still consider it ‘free’.

apperantly that E-Mu bass program thats for free download it shows that it only works for PC. Does it work for mac?
