Hi, I want to try the lil wayne vocal effect, the one he uses on songs like lollipop and get money. Its like "robotized" autotune effect!
I run Sony Acid 6.0 anyone knows how to make this effect in this program? I have autotune also...

thx

Lol people dont even want that tpain effect no mo they want that lil wayne effect

Its funny, because T-Pain just commercialized it. Autotune was being used like that before his time.
I saw an interview, where he was like "I Want My Money", directing that to anyone who is using the effect on their tracks. The lady interveiwing was like, "So your saying anyone using this effect owes you money? No one else can use autotune?" Then he says the same thing again. "I want my money."
Basically, he doesn't mean it literally, just that "He is the one that brought it to the table."
Which isn't the case, of course.
I will see if I can find the link to the video interview.

Lil Wayne came out wit the song Lolipop. When it first came up, the Autotune was real jumpy. Sounded like crap. The one you hear on the radio now, remixed, sounds smoother.

There are other ways.
Best ways-Hardware-TC Helicon Hardware units like the discontinued VoiceOne
and the current ones.
Then there are software-Autotune-Yamaha Pitchfix....

i think people are way too obsessed with the t-pain or lil wayne auto tune effect.. i mean, Eiffel 65 released songs with the auto tune in 1999 and sure everybody knows their song blue da be dee or some gay **** like that but nobody gave a **** about the auto tune at that time...
dont know acid pro that much but i'd be surprised that it has an auto tune.. search on youtube or otherwise change your DAW for somthin newer or idk.. i might be wrong.

Hahahaha, I could not stop laughing when I read about that interview! Now I really feel old. OK this is for the younger heads here. T- Pain did not find, invent or even commercialize that voice effect. First of all its called a "vocoder". The name changes from program to program but that's what it is. It comes back in use about every 10 years. Others that have used it before a T- Pain have been Dr. Dre(callifornia love),Snoop, Cher,Teddy Riley(mid to late 80's), And the man that actually put it on the map in the 70's and 80's Roger Troutman. There was a time when absolutely NO ONE could use that effect but him. Whew, I'm glad I could get that off my chest. Back to the laughing.

Peace

Just set the autotune to the fastest attack and %100 pitch correction. I use Melodyne so I'm not sure what the exact parameters are called...

People hate on the autotune and say it's cheating, but artists/producers are using it as an significant effect, not to slightly improve a singers pitch. It's obviously well recieved if so many hits today incorporate it and Weezy's using it.

google search GSnap, its freeware, unless yo feel like spending $500 on the software plugin.

To get the real effect you hve to have a MIDI track with the melody or (some melody), otherwise it will just sound bad, very bad. Also it'll sound a bit better if you put a flange on it too, I know Acid has one of those.

But really I kinda hate that effect, I only do it because people ask for it, otherwise I wouldn't use it. Exspecially on rapping, it sonds like you're gargling water.....

hahah Lil wayne voice

Ayo first of all...never mind Tpain standardizing this....Fu***ng Cher used this in one of her gangster a** trax

Its a vocoder, it can be found in standard protools plugins

Its different from a regular vocoder

I just wrote a blog about this....read it on myspace, links provided ....

Here to set the record straight.
Here is how Cher did it.
Read the part, "That Vocal Trick In Full"
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb99/articles/tracks661.htm

TPain, Im sure, has moved away from Autotune all together, and moved on to a hardware unit(Not ATR-1).
Again, TC Helicon beats Antares Autotune by a long shot, Im talking about the hardware units here.
Here is a guy demonstrating the TC Helicon VoiceOne.

Autotune needs to update their graphic mode. Outdated
Melodynes is far superior.

"John Smooth"
Roger Troutman didn't use a Vocoder, he used a Talkbox.
