I'm looking into getting a Korg TR Rack. The are going pretty cheap on ebay, and I wanted to know if it is the real rackmount version of the Korg Trinity, or just a slimmed down version of lesser quality sound?

In other words, is the TR Rack exactly the same as the Trinity, minus the keyboard and sequencer?

Thanks

they are the same. I own a Trinity rack and I love it great buy

Thanks. By "Trinity rack" you mean TR rack, right?

I think I'm going to sell my Motif 6 and get the TR rack and a midi keyboard instead, it should save me a few hundred dollars that I need for something else right now.

Any good 61 key midi boards for under $100, used?

Oh, and hows that "snoop doggy bass" on the TR? I heard its a good re-creation of the Moog bass used on Doggystyle. Is it close?

I like that snoop doggy bass. I think the TR rack is just a good all around board. Better than the motif? thats debateable but its a good module

Motif has the "snoopy bass", which is pretty close to a moog after a bit of tweaking. It works well as a lead too in the upper octaves.

I think on the TR its called "snoop doggy bass", and supposedly is a similar buzzy, analog-style, fat bass sound.

Motif also has "2001" bass, and "compton" bass, but neither are that great as is, maybe with some tweaking could be good.

I'm not expecting the TR to sound as good as the Motif, but if its close to the Triton quality, which its supposed to be, then thats good enough for about half the price of a Motif. Plus, I like the Motif sound, but for some reason its not as inspiring as the Tritons and Fantoms I've had in the past.
