Was thinking about buying some efx but not sure which one. Cant afford the efx 1000 so at the moment its between the korg kp2 or the pioneer efx 500... but which one?

i'd probably go for the efx 500 as the effects you produce are easier to re-create than on the kaoss pad which, because of the pad, makes it harder to re-create the same movements & therefore sounds you made previously...having said that both have a really good reputation so from a durability point of view you'll be happy either way. my advice would be to try and out both before you buy - after all it is your opinions that count!

Ah but the new KP3 has the option to record your pad movements. So you can reproducer the exact same sound everytime. Not only that but it has 128 effect, 4 banks sampler that can store 100 samples, and it can chop samples.

I myself would hold out for the KP3.

check it out for your self

hmm the KP3 does seem pretty nice doesn't it?! The efx 500 does have the capability to reproduce an effect that you have programmed but it only has the option of reproducing one effect 'movement' that you've programmed so I guess that is something to bear in mind. I expect the KP3 is pretty expensive too though - but I couldn't find a price on the beast.

see i LOVE my efx 500, but I must admit that damn KP3 has a lot of really cool sounding functions - can't wait to give it a blast - if it's as good as they say it is I might have to get the KP3 and then i can have that on one deck and the efx 500 on the other.

To compare the two is just silly. The Pioneer EFX line all the way!!
