Kong vs Redrum

Actually both. The best way to use them is together. I have Kong sequenced by Redrum so you get the best of both worlds.
I got a template if yall want it.

Other than one also being a synth and one being just sample playback... are there any other big differences?

I ask b/c I'm no longer a Reason user. I stopped around version 3.

I use both, got 2 redrums chained to Kong and couple nnxts.
Like Deez said, best of both worlds! xD

Yeah together. I sequence Kong into the back of Redrum and sequence then with Redrum.

How did that Combi I sent work out for you?

They are super different. One is a step sequencer the other is a VA synth, a PM synth, mpc style drum machine, and an FX rack.

I usually start with setting up a simple beat in Redrum to get me going. Than usually I end up with replacing that in the end. It helps me getting started and it helps replacing the tedious metronome to stay on beat!
