I fail to see why he cant be this mega star he wants to be while still rapping.......



Oh well I guess he'll keep singing as long as people keep lettin him get away with it...Personally I think he's living off his name at this point. If anybody else that was up and coming ever tried to hand Love Lockdown to an A&R as a single he would have got laughed out the office much less release an album. I predict people will eventually wake up 2 or 3 albums later and realize they're only buying Kanye Albums and taking him seriously cuz of his name now.......




and lmao at Plies making a freeform Jazz album I would actually buy that to see what he would come up wit lol

I was with you there until you got to the part about buying the Plies freeform jazz album...lol.

Of course the main reason why he was able to release Love Lockdown was because he's Kanye West. It takes an artist of his magnitude to break the mold of hip hop and open the gates to being able to present music like that to A&Rs without getting laughed at.

Maybe now artists won't be afraid to be experimental or sound different. Alot of artists make what they think is hot or will get them signed instead of being themselves and his new direction (in time) really can help change that phenomenon.

Maybe he is living off his name now, but isn't that a testament to what he's done throughout his career? Anyone that can live off their name has done something great! Even if it was done as a rapper, maybe he can give hope to artists out there that are too afraid to be themselves and not give in to the pressure to sell out just to get signed. Just my theory.

am I wrong for feeling like kanye owes me and other hip hop listeners another hip hop album.. in a way it kinda takes away from kanyes supposed genius that he is incapable of taking hip hop to another level and must abandon the genre as a whole to expand musically.. I dunno, just seems like he is giving validity to the claim that hip hop is not and cannot be great music. he seems to be sending the message that if you want to be a global icon you must stop rapping and start singing, so in fact he is not inspiring other rappers to " push the boundaries" but more so inspiring them to turn their backs on hip hop.
