O-M-****ing-G. He was speaking metaphorically. He was either speaking on his deal with Def Jam/Rocafella or his rise to fame and losing everything he ever held dear.

Please stop....please.

PEOPLE ALWAYS TRYNA JUSTIFY PEOPLE SAYING IT A METOPHOR....I BET IF HE SAID YEA I SUCK DICK I BET YALL WONT JUSTIFY THAT sayin it was a metophor...HE SOLD HIS SOLD U IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

None of you know Kanye personally. Stop speaking on his behalf and interpreting his lyrics for everyone. Sometimes, even in rap, people SAY what they MEAN, people pour their emotions out onto the mic. But of course even when someone says something in plain and simple English, people are still going to reach for any interpretation that won't make their favorite artist look bad. "I sold my soul to the devil" MAY or MAY NOT actually mean "I sold my soul to the devil." Neither of us can say for sure either way, and if you do then you're a moron. I guess interpreting a sentence the way it is plainly written is a "conspiracy theory" nowadays.

This post right here is not meant to CONDEMN Kanye. Whether or not he sold his soul to the devil, he's still one of my favorite producers ever, and I'm going to let him do him and not let his actions/beliefs affect my life. I'm just pointing out the obvious for y'all. The pic I just posted is of Ye rocking a shirt with the Baphomet head on it. Do I look at this shirt and automatically think "OMG SATAN WORSHIPPER," no I don't. But it's a matter of connecting dots... how many people do you know wearing Baphomet t-shirts as a fashion statement? AND rapping about selling their souls to the devil? AND being the protege of a rapper who disrespects Christianity all throughout his raps (I'm still a fan of Jay-Z though, I don't let another man's religious beliefs affect me personally). Just something to think about.

Who's to say if he literally sold his soul to the devil or not. I'm not saying Ye (no pun intended, lol) or Nay b/c i dont know him personally. Can't really denounce either side though. He made jesus walks, but wears a baphomet shirt & raps about selling his soul. Mixed messages???

But here is the real question...

Who gives a ****? Really?

If Kanye decided to LITERALLY sell his soul to Satan, which is utterly ridiculous in my opinion, how does that affect You or Me? What does that change at the end of the day?

i tried to sell my soul to the devil but i found out he wasnt real

Big Boi from OutKast said...Mom I'm sucking dicks now. (Elevators -Me&U)

I knew is was a metaphor the second he said it.

Grow up sir.

The same reason we give a f**k about who Tiger Woods is boning. Does everything have to have an effect on our personal lives for people to find it interesting enough to talk about it? And what makes you think that concept is so "utterly ridiculous?" Cause you don't believe in the devil? If that the case then you probably don't believe in a Christian God either (which I would respect if that's how you feel), so where were you back when Kanye made "Jesus Walks?" How is that song any less "ridiculous" than the concept of selling your soul to the devil?

This thread sold it's soul to the super devil, burn it at the stake.

Closing it works too.

Actually it's the opposite.

The assumption that the Devil is even capable of 'buying' your soul is ridiculous to me. It's not about the force that is responsible for maintaining your existence, it's more so utilizing the time you have WHILE existing.

And Jesus Walks amazed me, not because of the lyrical content, but the fact that the content was ACCEPTED by ALL commercial outlets.

Now do yourself a favor and never speak on my behalf. Assumptions are exclusive to the individual assuming.

i think nuthin really except maybe your future leaders (children) are probly want to be like kanye west and then think its acceptable to sell your sole to the devil for wealth

I never spoke on your behalf, notice my clever usage of the word "PROBABLY" when I spoke about what your beliefs may be, indicating that I'm not claiming anything as the truth, simply making educated guesses based on what you've posted here. Here's one thing we agree on though: neither of us believe that our souls can be "sold" to the devil. (DISCLAIMER: I'm not trying to influence anyone's own beliefs or claim to be more "enlightened" than anyone else) It's my personal belief that God owns our soul and yes, the idea of selling it is "ridiculous" because we can't sell what we don't own.

But to me, the idea of someone even ATTEMPTING to make a deal with Satan and "sell" their soul is very disturbing, and if you had a next-door neighbor who told you they sold their soul to the devil, you'd probably double check the locks on all your windows and doors at night.

why? they sold their soul to the devil and apparently got a nice house in return (next to mine)

they didnt rape the devil and hold him for ransom while brutally beating him and making him read cue cards on video for his family to see

LOL how exactly do you sell your soul to the devil??

i can just picture satan asking kanye "yo son, ill give you a dolla for your soul"
