k2000 or asr-10?

I was planning on picking up one of these boards. Basically I am looking for a good sampler/sequencer to use standalone, can someone shed some light on the pros and cons of each board?
 
In terms of sheer programming power and sonic performance, the K2000 wins in just about every department...... The ASR 10 is nice and has some decent filters, but it's a no contest.
 
I know you can seriously modulate your samples on the k2000, but how are it's basic sample editing capabilities i.e. cutting, copying, and fine editing on the kurzweil etc? I read somewhere that it was more of a synth than a sampler. Cheers
 
I have owned both. It's a hard choice, both are very powerful instruments. For me though, I'd go /w the ASR-10. The sampler has a distinct sound IMO, the build quality is better IMO (Metal VS Plastic) and the keys feel 10x better IMO. Also the LCD screens on the kurzweils burn out, which happened to me and will happen to you at some point.

Eh? Where did you get that info from? First off the K2000 is made of metal and not plastic. The screens almost never die, unlike the Akais, and mine has been bright and clear for the past 10 years. The filters and convertors determine the sound of a unit and the ASR has it's own. But it is utterly limited in comparrison to the K2000, in every single department. Sample editing on the K2000 is deep and detailed. But, each to his own. You can buy the Hip Hop hyped ASR or the 'now becoming a weapon K2000'. It's up to you. I own both and almost never touch the ASR.
 
I currently have BOTH machines sitting in front of me and I can honestly say in user experiance, user-firendlness, sound, layout, the ASR10 is all over the k2000.

I never touch the k2000 because the MIDI set up is too complicated and I cant get it to link with my ASR10. Its a good sounding keyboard but it doesnt come with a sample board so I dont use it right now.
 
are you refering to the kurzwiel k2000? this topic just changed my mind from the asr-10 to the k2000. i think it looks alot nicer as well than the asr.
 
Keep in mind that there is a k2000, and k2000s...The s stands for sampling ofcourse. :)
 
Yeah think I am gonna' go with the Kurz too, I've found one expanded with the orchestral rom and sampling board etc. Bout' the same price as a fully expanded asr-10 too!
