Anyone have experience with them?
how do they compare to the s950.
Any buyers.. in the event that i want to sell it?

Less memory maxed at 750 kb vs 950's upradable 2.25 mb, only 40khz vs 950's 48khz, can hold 32 samples vs 950's 99 samples. 950 can time stretch, 900 can't. Think that's all. both great

Hey how did you get so Lucky.
Lookup some of he vintage sampling techniques and you be make fresh tunes in no time.
I would love to have an original 12bit sampler.

my 950 ****s on your 900

but it's all fair game. Whatever that means.

Download OS v4 - just follow the instructions at the following link: h**p://akai-s900.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-to-upgrade-to-os-4-your-akai-s900.html. (Sorry - I could not post a link for some reason or another).

It gives you timestretch and other features. One step closer to the S950... but still not quite the same as the S950 :bigeyes: .

The manuals for the s900 and s950. The 950 is more in depth, but some features don't apply.

If that doesn't work. Go to akaipro.com, support>Documents>samplers>s900/s950

Chopping is easy. This is what I remember from memory (sorry I can't recall exactly what screen each of the steps below can be found at - its been a long time since I was on my S900):

1. Record sample - I assume you know how to do that!

2. On Edit Sample page:

(i) Copy sample to new name (eg. Drum1);
(ii) Adjust start/end positions for Drum1;
(iii) Truncate Drum1 sample;
(iv) Repeat steps (i) - (iii) above. Remember the End position of Drum1 should be the start position of Drum2, end poisition of Drum2 should be the start position of Drum3, and so on...

3. On Edit Program page:

(i) "Create" a new program by copying an existing program;
(ii) Goto the Key Groups Page and: (a) create the required no. of key groups (the number of KGs should match the number of samples you have); (b) for KG1 assign Drum1, KG assign Drum2, etc
(iii) Make sure you then assign a specific key/note to each KG so that the samples don't overlap when you press, for eg, C3 on your midi controller.

Cheers.
