I purchased both albums yesterday and had a good listening session with both. Jay is my dude and I had already been planning on picking up the Black Album for months. I didn't really believe in G-Unit but people on this site were hyping it up. That album is str8 filth. I should beat your a$$es for making me waste $12.99. IMO this album ranks up there with Diplomatic Immunity. The only songs that are good are the two Dre songs. This album sounds even worse after listening to The Black Album. Listening to the mastery of Jay and then going to the water down crap of 50 and his cronnies is like cheating on a dime with trailer park trash.
I watched Jay on 106 yesterday and he was completey hilarious. Also if anyone here listens to the Russ Parr Show they got him pretty too. I know earlier in a thread I defended Change Clothes but that song is hands down the worst song on the album. Jay was saying that the next single will probably be "Dirt off your shoulder" which I think is an excellent choice. Does anybody think that this album can go 3 singles deep? It's really not commerical but I'm thinking either of the Kayne tracks could be a 3rd single. Lucifer has that Dancehall feel and I think that he could make a ingenious video with Encore.
My favorite tracks are December 4th (The whole concept of this song is crazy, Jigga's Mom is crazy), Encore (I've been saying this since Blueprint, Kayne's better than Just), What More Can I Say(This song reminded me of Hovi Baby and I thought like that song it would be lackluster compared to the other tracks on the album but it is one of the better songs), and Justify My Thug(Before this song the only Quik song I liked was the Truth Hurts joint. I thought this was gonna be a love song with the Madonna Sample but it's hardcore.) Jay said his favorite was Allure which suprised me, but after listening to 5 or 6 times I felt the vibe and could zone out. My First Song and 99 Problems remind me of Nas tracks, but the lyrics are on point. Don't like the Em song. Jay tried to piece his albums together on the hook but the song doesn't flow well to me. Don't like the 9th Wonder beat by itself, but Jay on top of it meshes well together.
I'm curious to see what this album gets in the Source and XXL. What do y'all think?
I don't know about first week sales but overall Jay will sell more
