Deep concentration, mental penetration/ Hits me off the paranormal psychic information/ Imagine every b-boy and girl in third world nations/ Unite become one through pure hip-hop meditation/- last emperor

Oh don't play me closely, it's the music that controls me/ Hip-hop is mother earth and in my infancy she holds me/ Single parent see single handily shape and hold me/ When they tried to enslave me she train me how to set my soul free/- last emperor

wow i am so mind blown by how many responses i got from this post. dont everybody answer at once . pz

both albums are wack! It really pains me how hip hop has been taken over by corporate crap and all you punks who are allegedly 'keeping it real' are buying in to this ****. Hip Hop? just plain Hip POP, may as well listen to Britney.:bat:

If you go to mtv.com, you can listen to them both, personally g-unit album is ok, 3.5 mic worthy, alot of songs are wack.

JayZ's album on the other hand is tight, I guess he ended his career on a good note.

JAY Z MOMENT OF CLARITY

"I dumbed down for my audience and doubled my dollas.
They criticize me for it, but yet they all yell 'holla'.
If skills sold, truth be told
I'd probably be, lyrically, Talib Kweli.
Truthfully, I wanna rhyme like Common Sense,
But I did 5 mil, I ain't been rhymin' like Common since."

hell yuh. jay stepped up the lyrics on this one. good album, now im waiting on the white label release of the unused tracks.

u know their is sumthin i dont really like. when ppl tell u whut music u can listen and what is crap and what is great. its called " having ur own opinion". i think more ppl need to realize that ppl should beable to have their own opinion. ur opinion is valid judge-E but just say u dont like the music instead of callin ppl punks and sayin that we are sellin out or not keepin it real. what the hell does keep it real mean anyway? and if u give me a better answer than " not selling out " i will actaully read it and agree with you on it.

peace out

Everybody says the jay- z album is whack. Yes u can say some of the production is garbage. I agree.Maybe if u took a minute to really sit down and critique what he is saying on some of the songs u would take it back. some of hjs lyrics play the soundtracks to our lives and we understand where he is coming from.He spits sh*t we been through and what we think.Sometimes he may have u like damn i feel this nigga even though we grew up in different hoods. For example he says 'I just whipped up watch,i'm tryin' to get me a rover" for those that don't understand u might say that is whack. For those that do u feel what he's sayin. He's talkin' about tha' whip game. If u don't know that u won't know.

After hearing both albums, neither really impressed me (I never was impressed by Get Rich or Die Trying) and I believe G-Unit will sell more. Jay-z is running laps around G-Unit lyrically, but as far as comercially quality music, G-Unit seems to have that formula down. Basically they just follow 50's blueprint. Jay just released a video for change clothes, while on the other hand, G-Unit has been on the charts (TRL, 106, Billboard) for a while now, so the exposure is there. That being said I still like JAy-Z album better, but I don't have the same taste a the mass consumer.

I think Jay will eat up G-Unit at the cash register for first week sales.

jus got both of em using mcdonalds best buy bucks. yup i'm a baller like that.

Even though I'm not a fan of either I hope Jay's CD gets more only cuz G-Unit is sh!t and they had the nerve to move their release on the same day (on some typical who is better through sales sh!t). At least Jay had a reason (bootlegs).

on a last note ...... Fu#k GGGGGG...GAY-UNIT
.......and yeah, that 9th Wonder / Jay-Z Joint is on FIIIIIIIIIIRE!!!!! Scorching !!!!!!!!!!

g-unit will sell more, due to 50 cents appeal with the ladies and the pop culture right now

but i havent even heard g-unit, and i know the black album is better, damn that album really gets my blood pumping, especially ENCORE!! i think that might be one of my fav. jay-z songs ever. the sample, the beat, and he straight ripped it, he painted the picture of where he is in the game right now and him leaving on that song. its close to perfection

I think what Judge-E means is that if we don't like what we are hearing in Hip Hop, then it's our fault, cuz we keep buying the ****.

When 2Pac died years ago and Ja Rule came out a little later looking JUST like him and trying to sound JUST like him, nobody said sh*t. It took 3 years before people started sayin' "hey that dude is ripping Pac off". - yeah no sh*t!

When Fake Gangster & Female singer duets started coming out, did anybody say "get this stuff outta here!" - no, those albums sold plenty.

When goofy ass, corny rap songs about bling blinging were selling, the public was buying.

Is there anyone of us who didn't see 50 Cent as a promotional product we were supposed to "love like Pac" from the beginning?

just my opinion. I've learned from this forum that good music is still out there, it just still doesn't get radio or MTV play. And that's probably the way it should stay. F*ck money, f*ck status, just give me some real heart-felt rhymes over an ill beat and I'm good. I wanna hear about rough times that I can relate to, not some millionaire's story about how his sh*t doesn't stink.

p.s. I like some of the songs off of both albums. I like Jay-Z better, but his beat selection needs help on this last album. I like some of G-Unit's stuff too though, but I'm not buying that album. I already heard most of it back in '96.;)
