yo a lil off toicc question...i have the same equipment like u...except i have a triton....i wanted to kno hiw do u track yoiur sequences from the mpc1000/triton to pro tools....thanks

find any warm bass sound, use a lowpass to filter it out to around 200-100 hz

i use trilogy for basslines or minimoog v and they come out well for the most part. also use lots of resonance, and lfo can be very nice in some cases.

i have the mpc2500 i use that as to to all my sequences in ,i midi my korg m3 and the motfixs to the mpc yhen i have the mpc going to protools i solo the tracks on the mpc i want to go to protools track for track i hope this helps you

^Logic 8 has dope bass too. Trilogy & Logic are where all my bass sounds come from.

on the subject of dillas bass, especially that classic dilla ish, a lot of times the samples that he chose were half, if not pretty much the whole battle. Do your homework on the samples used in pharcyde's runnin joint for example. That's a CLASSIC joao samba. Dude cop'd an ill sample and freaked in into what it became. Him and PR are known for taking basslines from classic jazz like that and f'in w/ filters for the bass. But usually the sample in those cases are already in a rhythm that can be freaked into those swing type patterns that dilla is known for. Theres chopping for drums and then there's diggin and phrase sampling for lines and melodies. Dilla was a master of both. Go to about 2:05 of the following youtube and peep that:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U30vT17TtHw&feature=related

And continue to listen to the whole thing. There are numerous other gems he used on runnin in that.

Now imagin filtering samples from that. With those guitars and that bass with its swing and Super smooth decay...you filter and layer that over some crisp drumz! That's the good stuff. Now I've seen dilla in a picture with an acoustic bass and whether he bothered to layer w/ that as well, I don't know. But I've heard many of his classic joints with that warbled (filtered) ac bass sound and I'm thinking that in a lot of cases, The sample was filtered and layered on top of the original.

Now he obviously had ill synth game when it came to subs and what not but I think peeps have already hit on that with the mention of moogs etc. You can get that sound from plugins (believe it or not) these days pretty easily. Honestly, I can Out sub a mico korg EASY with plugins. But anyway, that filtered sample sound takes a lil more leg work to me.
