Were the 2 str8-150s quartz locked, or were they at something besides 0% ? The wow/flutter on the stanton is 0.1% and on the 1200s it's 0.01%, so technically, even though you did get them matched for 7 minutes, the techs can do that, and more. I'm also wondering, since the str8-150 is a digital turntable, whether there is a 0.1% increment in pitch adjustments (like on the ttx1). If this is so, with the technics being an analog turntable with no real % increments when adjusting pitch, couldn't you still get a more accurate mix on the techs ?

Let's rest this debate, it's getting really tired. Technics are fine. I've tried the Stanton ST-150 (with the S arm) and that was fine too. The TTX I cannot comment on, as I've just seen it and pushed every button on it just to see the LCD display light up.

BUT - I said this earlier - the difference between the Citronics, Synqs, Geminis and (I believe) Stantons is very small. They're made to same specs at the same factory on a licensing deal. So just buy whichever you can get the best deal on.

I wasn't trying to debate really, I just had some questions that I couldn't find answers to. I can't find anywhere if there is a 0.1% increment in adjusting pitch on the Stantons, and I'd like to know. I've tried these side-by-side with the techs, and they are seriously the only other thing I would consider, they're just that nice.

I didn't knew that the Stanton STR8-150 are basically the same as the citronic or the sinq tables. The stanton cost 590 euros and the citronic cost 399. That is almost half that cheap. Interesting. I am doign some review searching on the net, but I haven't found any. And I am also worried with support questions, cause if you need help with the ttx or technics or vestax/stanton , you will provably find answers in forums. THat it also part of the price I think. BUt 399 looks cheap. if it like a stanton.

About the pitch. SO technics is the only analog pitch silder in the world that sells good. That is important as well, cause for mixing you need more pitch..so a technics maybe cause it has a broader range of pitch?

What I don't understand is why you need more pitch adjust than +/- 8%

Do you, by any chance, like to mix "Through the Fire" by Chaka Khan with speed metal?

Anything at -8% starts sounding a bit like Frank Sinatra singing Yma Sumac. Anything at +8% sounds stressed. If two tracks differ by more than, say, 4bpm I usually find it awkward to mix because the pitch gets too altered.

check this out.

It is a dutch review of the citronic/synq and other brandes which use the same design except from the colour. It is a copy of the stanton 150 motor. It also says that vestax will comeout with an exact design but with the vestax brand. The review says it is an excelent solid and reliable turntable.

Also if you look closely , it is a rip of of the numark tx1/2. See the picture for the resemblance. This is like the former ttx1 design with a stanton 590 euro motor. SO I will maybe go for this one, instead of the ttx1. I realy don't need a key lock. I will use mixvibe sor serrato for that trick. :)

I am not too sure about the pitch fader whether or not it is digital. However it is far more accurate than 0.1% increments. It is very smooth and offers a bit more stiffness than on a 1210 so i find making small adjustments is easier.

I think the digital output is simply produced by a high quality A/D converter. It'd have to be somewhere along the line as vinyl is an analogue medium.

At the end of the day you WILL be completely satisfied with either.

The only downside to STR8150'S is that when you then do play on technics, the Techs seem pretty crap to be honest because they're simply not as good.

hi.

cOOL MAN. I don't believe in the technics story...that it is all good. Sure it is stable, but I prefer to choose newer technology...a stronger motor and more pitch and an easier way to mix/skratch. I heard storys about people playing on the technics for fun and having to switch from vestax/numark/citronics to technics and at the end they prefer the newer tables cause they are easier to mix/skratch. That is what I am looking for.

I think I will go for the citronics. IT is 50 euros cheaper than the same Synq OEM turntable. ANd 250 dollar cheaper than the technics 1210 mk.

Great choice - you won't be dissapointed. I was going to do exactly the same thing as you but then i ran into a bit of extra money so i went for the STR8-150'S over the PD-45's.

you are so willing to believe anything you "hear" aren't you? two days ago you were talking about your "future technics" - now you "don't believe in the technics story"... have you actually spent any time with any of these decks? go actually use the turntables you've read about over and over, then buy a pair and start working on your skills. - jeff h

Technics are simple, sexy and solid tables! I own two. I don't need anything than this pair of hardcore bitches. They are just the way to go.
