Ive been trying for a while to find and make that reverse string sound but i cant get it. I think the motif had a patch with it but im trying to either create it or find a vst that has it or at least something close. I took some strings and lowered the release and raised the attack on it to fake the sound but thats as far as I go. Added a few effects to it and it sounds decent but just doesn't fit. Any suggestions on how I can create it or even a vst that might work?

Play the string .Save as wav.
Import it and just reverse it in the daw.
All DAWs can do that

i think he's talking abt storch's method... if im right... :bat:

Well thats a pizzicato string strummed the opposite direction. You can have it strummed down, or up. In Hypersonic 2 it gives you the option.

thanks everybody Im going to try to record then reverse and see if I can tweak it to play chords with. But I didnt know scott storch used reversed strings. On what song?

can you name specific tracks that have this sound in them? I can try to identify it. Sometimes tape strings, mellotron strings, sound like reversed strings.

I heard it in a Beyonce track called Yes. It actually sounded like a guitar was reversed on there. So I thought to try to reverse strings and maybe I could pull of that sound but use strings instead so I could play chords with it in a track.

Hey Shy, if you're a Reason user throw your string sample in the NN-XT and there is a control that reverses the sample in the edit window. You can then edit the start point where you need it for a faster fade in. Or like Breal said, you can do it in a DAW sequencer.

I didnt know that. I just started to use reason actually but I didt know that was possible. I guess then from there I can spread it across the keyboard and just play it out. Ill try that too and see which one sounds better.

Ya, the NN-XT can get kind of complicated untill you get used to it. It explains it briefly in the manual if you have it. With the NN-XT you can highlight a sample and just effect it specifically or you can automate a group of samples all at once. So you can layer a bunch of string samples across the keyboard and reverse them all at once so you can play chords. Mess around with it and let me know if you figure it out.

yo i have no clue wtf these cats are talking about but that exact sound your looking for is a preset in hypersonic 2 called a tape string and the exact name your looking for reverse string jus type it in on hyper sonic you will find it it has other reversed sounds like choirs and **** like that its preety kewl

Problem Solved. R5NickelXL hit it on the money. I can load any one of the sounds in Hypersonic using tape strings and it does all the reversing for me and I just play it out. Im making some stuff now. Ill post it if yall interested. Thanks to everybody for the help. I guess I was just thinking to hard on this one. Once again future producer pulls it out for me.

sorry stupid question but what do you even mean when you say "reverse"? thanks

Like when you reverse a guitar wav file you get this weird reverse guitar sound. Well I was trying to find a sound where the string sound itself was reversed but that I could play chords with it. I hope that answers your qquestion
