Is paying for promotion on soundclick worth it?

Your seeling beats for $20 ... smh paying for the promo will prolly
cost more than you actually making something ... $20 beats your
obviously not serious about ya craft.

Best of luck though homie ... if you got heat the plays will come
automatically.

Just because i'm selling them for 20 dollars doesn't mean i'm not serious. I'm trying to make money dawg, and right now nobody wants to pay for beats. I'm still being undersold by producers selling their **** for 10 bucks! That's like saying walmart isn't serious about business because they have low prices. Its about economics!

lmao @ the comparison to walmart ... walmart doesn't care about
being respected their aim is for all the low end people. They don't
care about being a high end brand. You wanna be looked at as a
low end producer then.

Theirs people I know selling beats for $150-300 regularly ... I stopped
using soundclick a lil back but I never sold a beat for lower than $150
and sold quite a few so its all excuses. If you make a name and buzz
for yourself and set a solid price it works. Credits under your belt
working with up coming artists that are buzzing helps as well.
Un-serious artists don't wanna buy beats thats about it.

You gotta sell 10 beats just to make $100 ... 30 on gas, 20 on food
theirs half the profit gone.

First of all if I sold 10 beats @ 20 that would 200. But anyways I'm just leasing them for 20, not selling. I would sell my beats for about 300 upwards. If you leased your shiz for 150-300 thats crazy man, congrats on the success. So I'm not trying to be looked at as a low-end producer. I'm trying to make a name for myself by making hot beats that are affordable. And I'll try to work with up coming artists to create buzz. Did you do collabs and giving away beats for free and stuff to help with that?

Yo, I feel you on that man. I know a bunch of producers who have crazy volume of sales typically but the past few months have been rough. To try and weave through and breakout in the crowd, low prices will do it. I run frequent promotions of a variety of things...packages, % cuts, and EX sales.

Cool and Dre started out GIVING away beats. Freebies. Now they're well established. You've got to start somewhere cause its all about supply and demand and having a dope product folks will WANT to buy from you.

I been wondering the same thing, it seems like if you have some decent material you should be able to make your money back if your asking for too much. I mean if 100,000 people hear your song, at least a tiny percentage should try to buy it

When everybody is trying their best to avoid spending any money at all (especially during a recession period like now) the people that are willing or are in position to do so are the ones that run the future. Your only as serious as the actions your willing to take

i akways wondered about that, but im on soundclick nonstop and ill read a persons blog before anything.... thats just me so it depends on what people look for while they browse the site

Soundclick is literally full of rappers and all of them use the site to find beats. Literally 1.4 million rappers are signed up to this site and all of them use the charts to find free downloads and to purchase beats.

Dang my nig was totally wrong...Lol

SoundClick is shady with the plays tbh. I think some people pigeon hole themselves on that site which is hard to recover from. IMO big artists don't want to work with a "SoundClick producer" which is why some of the biggest SC producers are now disassociating themselves with the site.

However WHP and others are doing a great job though, and much props to them.

just my 2 cents

There are plenty of ways to make money selling beats online. The best way to sell beats is to sell your beats online on sound click. There is even a free account if you can't afford the $9.95/mo VIP account (which is obviously the better choice, EVERYBODY in the top charts has a VIP account). You'd be amazed if I told you how many beat makers are cashing in on that website right now, pulling in a full time income.

Hey looks like we have a soundclick representative on the boards now :D.

Soundclick's overrated IMO but a lot of people seem to know about it so go where the people are. Don't discount networking via social media sites like Facebook and build a following via Twitter.

Very true. Others have also recently got caught trying to manipulate the system. Soundclick is catching on.

The Internet is becoming one of the most popular sources for income, however, many people do not trust Internet because it's also a popular source for scams.I know of many artists who promote music online but often stick to one MySpace, Facebook, Imeem, and YouTube page.you want to promote music online effectively, key phrase research is one of the main keys.
