In the beginning (solo) and throughout the song there is a flipped sample and I can't figure out what instrument that is. It sounds like a rusty horn mixed with some kind of vintage organ or something weird. Sort of like the instrument in Clipse's "Momma I'm so sorry"...I also wonder what the Neptunes played that out on. Anyone have any ideas? I am really diggin that sound and would like to incorporate that into my own music. If anyone knows how to shape that sort of sound in Reason or FL Studio let me know. Thanks in advance.

can you post a clip where the sound appears solo in the beginning of the song?

It's a horn sample from a record that u probably never find.

there is a preset in edirol orchestral which is almost like it called Trumpet 1. use it on octave 6

Rayzer...funny you say that because I used that preset in Edirol Orchestral just last week on a track I did. Sounds sort of close....needs a little grime added to it.

Holy Macro!

you mean Betty Wright's "Girls Can't Do What the Guys Do"

...you can listen to a clip here: http://www.amazon.com/Very-Best-Betty-Wright/dp/B00004TIOM

and it would be more than just a "horn"... it would be a sample of a horn section along with a full band

Dang how did you figure this one out? And since you are good with horn samples do you know where Fat Joe's "The Profit" horns were sampled from? (produced by DJ Khaled)...those horns are on blast!

No ****! When people here upgrade you there not saying nice horn section sample they say nice horn sample.

why don't you just calm down...

...when a person is trying to analyze a sample for the purpose of recreating it in their own tracks--

AND, the posts immediately after yours are saying things like "Yeah, it sounds like 'trumpet3' from that plugin"...

So, Mr "No ****!", the other people here didn't seem to think it was so obvious.

It makes perfect sense to tell these people that it is not just a trumpet by itself, but rather a full horn section and full band (not to mention the stuff added to it in the Beyonce track.)

To be honest, I don't understand why you say anything if you are not going to say something helpful.

You had a perfect oppotrunity to say something helpful to everyone when they were thinking it was just a sample of a single horn. I wonder why you decided to keep quiet at that moment?

don't know how he know the sample but most time its in the album booklet

What i was saying was that it was a small horn sample and swizz could of got that off any record. I didn't know the sample was from a betty wright record. That's why I said you'll probably never find it. And i didn't know that i had to clarify would a horn sample consist of from a 70's soul record.. pretty much everybody knows that a horn sample from a record consist of many instruments. That's commen sense. By the way I wasn't getting mad so there's no need to tell me to calm down or call me "mr. no ****".

i had been working with with that "girl's can't do what the guys do" sample right before upgrade u came out . . . strangely enough i was remixng "99 problems", lol

True "most of the time" but it sounded chopped enough that maybe the sample wouldn't have to have been cleared and listed in the liner notes.
