Important question about EDM Drop (Please Help)

Hello there,


I want to make a track but I have a question. Can I use the lead of a kinda popular song but make my own drop or is that copyright or something?
 
If you are sampling from another track or copying a melody, that would be copyright infringement. Using a preset for a synth is not copyright infringement to my knowledge (assuming that you have not illegally obtained presets that are typically paid for)
 
If you used a lead from a popular song and did your own thing with it, but not actually sampling the song it's from, it's not infringement. However, if you release your song on like soundcloud or something, there are going to be arseholes criticizing you for using that lead because technically you ripped the lead from the original artist. It's not always like that, but I would just be careful with what you're doing.
