I think this is the best audio interface under 1000.00

I've no idea myself what is the best audio interface for under £1,000 but I know for £1,700 the best audio interface i've heard is the Apogee Rosetta 200. I've used a Motu 1296 which was excellent too, and various M-Audio soundcards, now I use a Presonus Firebox which is damn good for the money, but god damn, that Rosetta 200...amazing sound quality. EVERYTHING sounded better through it and my old oldskool hardcore vinyl when recorded to my hard drive through it, never sounded so good in its life.

Agreed! Apogee is the ish! For sure! I just recently bought the Apogee Duet to use for my Laptop setup when I am messing around with buddies and doing the mobile thing and I love the heck out of that thing! I have the FireStudio and I also agree that for the money you can hardly do better, but nothing compares to the Apogee sound, to me!

Now, I had the MOTU Ultralite and loved it too, (got stolen), the only problem I had with that unit is the cramped face and the knobs were a little finicky, but that is picky ish! Overall, the MOTU was nice! The inly unit I would like to spend more time with is the RME Fireface 400 and 800, my buddy has one down in LA and he says it is off the chain! I would like to hear the sound quality and do a side by side comparison versus the Apogee stuff and go from there!

Anyone have experience with the RME ish? Let me know, cause I am thinking of upgrading eventualy to either Apogee or RME for my main rig in my home studio (Down the line a ways).

PEACE

From what i've heard from people who've used both and people who have one and a mate have the other, the Apogee Rosetta is slightly better sound quality. It has better stereo imaging and more detail. I know next year, if I can afford it now, i'm gonna get myself a 2nd hand Rosetta 800. Or maybe 2 Motu HD192 because I had a Motu 1296 (the HD192 is the new version of the 1296) and the sound quality of that thing was fantastic and so close to the sound of the Apogee that its unreal. The Motu HD192 is a 12 channel so 2 of them 2nd hand for £1,000 would give me 24 inputs and 24 outputs.

how about the apogee mini-DAC? that one looks like the only apogee A/D that's under $1000...

Thats only a digital to analogue converter and not both an analogue to dogital and digital to analogue like the Rosetta 200 or 800 so you'd only be able to convert from digial to analogue.

Glad to see someone else who has the firestudio and can vouch for what i said about it, but next year i think i will move up to a rosetta. Apogee is the stuff.

How's the latency on these joints? The rosetta and such as well as the MOTU mentioned. If u search my name for the threads I've started, you'll find the one with my computer specs. Can u tell me which one will give me the lowest latency level given the specs of my computer? (Let me know if I'm asking to much lol). Only reason I can't look up the post myself is cause I'm on my sidekick and I can't do searches from here. Peace!

obviuosly madehumble u dnt have expirience emu is a much better interface than the firepod the audio bit rate is the same but the sample rate is much better and the a/d converters used in the digidesign hd audio interface are the same on the emu 0404usb interface thin again buddy

Dude first of all I have a Firestudio and not a Firepod, the converters in those two are not the same, the Firestudio Project and the Firepod share the same converters and pres's. The Firestudio and the Digimax share the same conveters and pres. And as for the emu never heard it but if you say its great, its great.
