Recently, Ive ben tryin 2 get on my keyboard more often to push myself 2 start making more music. The problem is EVERYTHING that seems 2 b coming out is lame :banghead: I'm trying 2 make hiphop beats, but i cant imagine how any1 would rap over them cuz they sound so awkward. I dont even kno how 2 start on making r&b instrumentals, either. Has any1 else ever experienced this, n how do i fix this?

Rap over your own beats I usually mumble how I think I rapper would flow over it while I'm making the beat.

wouldn't be able to answer this w/o hearing some music. But to be honest people may not start liking your music until someone makes a dope song out of it. So get with an artist. Look at did it on em by nicki manaj, the beat dont sound dope people love the song.

LOL, i do this too! I can't rap but my mumble flows are offffff the hoook! :P

TEX, I challenge you to a Freestyle Mumble battle. hahaha

i do a mixture of mumble raps and verses i have memorized from songs lol

to the op, post up the music so we could give some more specific advice.

yo Trey. Remake other people's beats for practice. When you learn how to play a guitar, you play other people's songs to learn how to play, then you make your own stuff. Same with beats. Here is a link of a interview with The Bizness and they basically say the same thing. Hope this helps bruh

i do the same thing with piano. I do notice when learning new songs, new melodies also come naturally to me. I've never tried this with full instrumentals, though. I like the vid 2, worth the watch. I'll try n see if it works out

from that beat you posted, with a few tweaks it could be a "rapable" beat

the melody is interesting enough to stay how it is, however, I would definitely change a lot of the sounds you used...the highlight of the beat is the deeper strings so I would work around that

also If the drums can stand on their own without the music, you could have a beat people could rap to, but the drums on that beat cant do that. Its just a kick and a weak clap

Hope you take this as constructive criticism and not anything else lol

Man I just freestyled on this easily. What do you mean its un-rapable?

yea, i definately get what your sayin now. i agree with u on getting better sounds. Im looking for good kits 2 start using now. but u see what i mean about the drums, this is mainly what im talking about, the actual rhythm doesnt sound right 2 me

dont worry about people rapping on it yet... jus make your own style of music... the artist come to u when u got hott music... on that beat u linked it jus need a lil work and some hihats would help alot

What do you use to make your beats?

Another thing you might want to try is getting an acapella and make a beat under it. Try and get one where you dont have to **** about with tempos cos that will just complicate everything.

You could always throw acapellas over them, acapellas that share the same vibe as your beat obviously. You don't wanna throw an Immortal Tech acapella over a club anthem.

4 this 1, all sounds were from a motif es8. now, im still using its instrument sounds, just eq'ing them a bit more, but i use online samples or stuff from fl studio 4 my drums.
