I hate SoundClick.com Producers Rant!

Nowadays there are so many clowns trying to break into the business you don't really know who you can trust......

...and from what I hear its always been like this......

Keep ur guard up fellas.

You got to look harder then just the top 25, the majority of those beats were all paid for to chart high. I find good beats in the top 100-200 quite often, and the free downloads aren't free beats buy the lease if you want the beat untagged.

LMAO....I know this dude...its my boy Rey. Me and him make tracks together.

Anyway, he's kinda right about all the producers on soundclick sounding the same. This is the whole reason I decided I need to learn how to produce my own beats. The tags all over the beat are annoying as hell to an artist. I know that the producer wants to protect his work and let everyone in the world know who made the beat if someone decides to use it, but take a lesson from Mister KA. If you don't know who he is, check out how he tags his beats...

www . soundclick . com/MisterKA (I can't post links yet)

Anyway, notice how his tag doesn't ruin the beat. It kinda goes along with the beat. However, if anyone uses a KA beat, I know exactly who made it cause of that little "KA" thing he does. I actually performed at a show and one of the other artists used a KA beat and I instantly knew it by the tag.

But yeah, I'm starting to ramble....sorry

...And this is why the tag is there. To purposely "ruin" the beat so it cant be used @ shows without permission.

I'm sure if KA sold it, the tag would be gone right?

Yeah the tags don't seem to stop most rappers. I've heard plenty of vybe, ka, white hot tags at shows around here. Also have heard songs on myspace with rappers spitting to superstar o beats while it's saying "purchase your tracks today" in the background through out the whole song.

Oh yea, I hear ya. The first time I heard it I was @ an associates' studio and the group that came in during the 4th block had a soundclick beat (one of the top guy's, can't remember exactly who)with the tag on it and performed an entire song over it with the tag looping on it...

I remember thinking to myself "damn, between the three of these dudes' they couldn't come up with a dub for the track?"

LoL

In the beginning, I only had a few discreet tags in as well... then I heard some dudes mixtape on datpiff.com, everytime it came to my tag, he'd "reverse" the beat for a second or two so it sounded like gibberish. Now I tag 'em up serious, usually 1 tag on the hook, 2 tags on the verse.

I didn't watch the video, but if he's talking about tags ruining the beat, he needs to STFU and buy a lease.

Ok, I get what all you guys are saying about tagging the hell outta your beats so no one uses em.

What I am talking about is the people who promote their beats as "FREE DOWNLOAD!!!!"

This gets all the beat searchers who rap as a hobby instead of a profession on to their page. They click on a beat and are absolutely in love with the first 15 seconds so they download it. Once they listen to the beat again, they realize that when the beat drops at 22 secs, its then heavily tagged with some random, loud voice that's usually clipping in the attempt of self promotion on a song.

If you don't want people downloading and using your beats for free, don't make them free downloads!!!

If I'm searching for a beat to buy or lease, I'm gonna look for one that's not a free download cause I don't wanna use the same beat everyone else does.

The guy in this video is a personal friend of mine and all he does is make music for fun. You can ask him personally and he'll tell you the same.

i never really understood the free dl thing either

What's not 2 understand? Free download is what it is...a free download. You are aware that when uploading a track to soundclick there is an option to charge for the download right?

a lot of people on soundclick are probably listening to beats on laptop speakers/ipod headphones/computer speakers. by offering free dls they have the opportunity to hear the beat in different systems. they can easily choose 20 free dls, throw em on a cd and demo them in their cars' system to see how the bass/mixing is in general. Then, if they like how it sounds they can buy the lease, build some buzz and come back for the exclusive, at least in a perfect world thats what theyd do lol.
