Good stuff right here! Especially "protect thy ears"! I try to tell my friends that ALL the time. They like to blast them Dre Beats at full blast, but about 30years from now their going to wish they hadn't done that when they can barely hear a thing

I just recently realized that i want to create music and after reading this now i want to create it even more i have a thirst for knowledge and all sorts and i am glad that the music industry has so much of it. Thank you for this post i was looking for something along these lines before i found this fourm thank you bro, bigbrothermotown.
 
I'm a newbie to production. I'm glad to see it seems I'm going about it correctly after reading these commandments. Although I'll admit I may have made a couple impulse purchases, but nothing major. Some of these seem to be common sense, but I'm sure they still get broken.
 
I cannot express how difficult it was to read through the entirety of the manual for the Kurzweil K2000 way back...but damn after learning how to program that thing.. learning the Roland JP800 and Novation supernova were a breeze...and later Reason, ableton, etc.

Learning yo sh_t doesnt just enable the whim of the moment........it enables you to learn more quickly each time
