Very good post. I believe you hit all the key pointers when first starting off. I especially liked the part about the sales people. That reminds me when I first went to purchase my keyboard. The guy tried to get me to buy all sorts of crazy stuff that i looked up later and found out was not even necessary.

Im new to this forum and appreciate this common sense thread
thanks.

"thou shalt not impulse buy" that's a hard one fam ....im' like a crack fein for new plug ins!!!!! churchhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! great post ,but as many other's , the time you get this message you've already broken 6 commandments...

Very nicely laid down!
I appreciate this article BigBro!

Thanks a bunch!

i'm so going to start reading about midi right now and read reason 4's manual. i realized i was being so half-hearted about music though i love it. your thread made me realize that i've been using midi and i know how to use it... but, i just know it's a keyboard with keys that plays when you pick a patch. i know nothing... i need to read.

really good post, today has been an inspirational day indeed!

Dang I want to be mad at you, but I know you're right. I have had athousand excuses wht I don't know this or that. Your honor I honor you, tho I may have to ask sometimes never without reading first nor ask this forum.lol

this would be good for someone who is absolutely just beginning to dig into music production, and has never even touched a piece of gear. i would hope many people have this common sense when it comes to making there own decisions and does not have to ask anyone something they can do on there own. if so, chances are there gonna have a bumpy ride and might even end up quitting because they expect everything to be handed over to them. always looking for the easy way around things, witch looses skill development and the learning process. if you find yourself getting lazy or bored while making music, chances are you don't know enough to achieve what you want to do, or you just flat out were not born to make music(just a listener). you could even find yourself performing music for different sources, like commercials, cartoons, ect. w/e the case may be.

I am greatful for the advice being a newbie as far as networking is concerned. Also on the digital front I am no scientist. So I'll exemplify by quietly observing this forum and hopefully, I may learn the correct way to hold court among you Elite and more knowledgable producers of music.
