Truthfully speaking, regardless of the market you enter, something like 90% of all business ventures fail within one year, its true... so if your website fails, so effin what, start a new one, and a new one and a new one til it doesn't fail anymore...

On some real real sh!t, calling it quits at anything you don't succeed at the first time is just a copout and you'd have done better to just not give any effort at all if you give up after the first try... Pretty much to try is to fail to succeed is to try a different way to fail a little better each time...
 
Alot of people think I'm angry at the majors for some reason. I'm not the least bit angry at them. It's a shame that the business tactics that have ben grandfathered in have made music stale and stagnant, but I'm not angry at all.

Yes, I used to be a HUGE proponent of doing it the old fashioned way. But the more and more I learned about the major label structure, as it related to the business of music, I started to see things differently...

You remember that scene in the Wizard of Oz, where they went to see the Wizard, and they were in awe of his awesome power, with all the fire and booming and stuff?

Then they went back the last time, and Toto expozed the Wizard...then they were like "all this stuff was for show? You really have no more power than I have"


That perfectly describes the change in my approach. I used to believe all the fire and flashes and smoke the music industry put on. Because I didn't know any better.

But ad I grew in my experiences and my knowledge of how things work, I started seeing the GRAND OLD OZ, for the little wizard guy he was. And not only that, I realized that I had just as much power to get myself back to Kansas as he had....and I've had this power all along.




See, people lash out at me, because they still believe all the fireworks and special effects the music industry puts on. It HAS to be real, because that's their only hope. And if it's not real, then their hopes and dreams are down the drain.

And they get mad at me. But I understand.



I'm not saying theres no chance I'd making it the old fashioned way...cuz there is. And people are still doing it. And if people want to go that route, then more power to them. IndustrySound.com wi provide products and services to assist them on their journey.


But that route wasn't for me. Just because I chose a route doesn't mean anyone has to follow me. I'm still building a service to help you achieve your goals, because helping other people reach their goals is one of my top goals.

This guy is one of the most subscribed musicians on youtube and he has 15 million plus views on his videos.

He didn't do any of his promotion work. He simply put a video on youtube, the rest was in the "peoples" hands. Same with any other successful viral musician.

I doubt that Tay Zonday of Chocolate Rain knew in advance that his video was going to get over 38 million views. His promotional efforts had very little to do with the fact that his video go so many views. Its all in the sharing.

If its great and people like it for whatever reason, then they will share it.

I learned that in order to be successful with my you:
a) better pour a ton of money or time in to promotion.
b) have a hot product that people will want to share.

So this is the conclusion that I came to. Put your time into the actual craft/content. If its great then people will come, its inevitable.

Yes I said it.



IndustrySound.com is the culmination of 19 years of studying and knowledge of the music industry. I'm a freaking walking encyclopedia of music knowledge and music industry business practices/trends since 1990 (when I was 3).


Money wise, I'm good for about a year of not working. But at some point, I have to say "okay, this isn't working, I need to switch gears to build a true career".



Everybody has that "stopping point". IndustrySound.com is mine.




If it doesn't work, then I'm out the music game. I'll be selling all of my equipment, and it'll be a wrap.



This venture is everything that I know about EVERYTHING. It's everything I love, and it's everything that I am.

I've never seen this thread before, but you sure had a ton to say pre-launch. What has IndustrySound accomplished thus far that has kept you from selling all your gear and jumping out of music altogether?

I'm not going to bother with laying that plan out, because I can show you better than I can tell you. And some people can't see the forest for the trees...


Then again, those people wouldn't know a tree if they saw the leaves growing out of their ass...and realized their own music aspirations have taken root at SQUARE ZERO.



I'm writing a song right now. Some people see how IS plays apart in making that song a success.



...and some people should get back to making beetz.

I take it from absolutely dodging the question that we're to disregard the original post? The one where you explicitly outline your ultimatum?
