Sounds like the Brett Favre of FP, or is it Jay Leno? you don't announce retirements 1)when you're tired/overwhelmed, 2)way ahead of time

Nothing I said in that post you quoted was the least bit defensive. It was just stating the realities of the industry, and the realities of the position that I'm in.


You don't have to believe anything that you don't want to believe. But trust me, I've turned down deals that people on this board would SUCK DICK LIVE ON NATIONAL TV to get.

Good business is understanding that every dollar ain't a good dollar. It's about understanding that you have to have goals and priorities...and you have to make moves that further those goals and priorities...

If a business opportunity comes along that is in direct conflict or contradict those goals and priorities, YOU DON'T TAKE IT.


Well at least that's how I conduct my business.

It's just a hard pill for alot of people to swallow. They want to believe that this is still 2001, people are still selling millions of records, and new producers are still getting rich off "placements".

It's not happening.



I'll put my W2 up against just about any new producer with "placements" on this board, and we'll see which one is bigger.



It's just the reality of the industry right now. And I'm someone who is just crazy enough to go against the grain, to put himself in a position to make a REAL impact...not just the impact that someone ALLOWS me to make.

Don't u dare attempt to come at me like I turned this thread into this. There have been numerous threads about "when will you know it's time to quit". I've always said that when I was no longer making any progress, I'd quit...

So this is just me revising that statement...nothing more. Just telling people that I've determined at what point "enough is enough", and I'd be moving on into other ventures.

The problem is that people get mad at me when I shoot their dreams down. They take it REALLY PERSONAL when I say that if you're looking to get rich off beats in 2009 and beyond, you're wasting your time. People take it as A PERSONAL SHOT AT THEM when I say that if you don't have a sound business strategy behind those beats, that chances of you making it anywhere in this music industry are slim to none.


People don't want to hear that. Because for 90% of the people on this board who are tryin to "make it", they don't have an actual PLAN rooted in a SOUND BUSINESS STRATEGY to make money off of their BEATS. They just hope to continue "making beats", and putting them on the internet, sending out "beat cd's", and HOPE that the right person hears them, and PUTS THEM ON.


So they get mad at me when I say that's a load of crap. They get mad at the things that I say, because I just inadvertently shot their "plan" to hell.

So they lash out at me.


Some people don't want to be unplugged from the matrix. They like THEIR DELUSIONS OF GRANDEUR. That all this jewelry is real, that as soon as u get that first placement, you're off to the races, that you'll get to keep all your publishing, and you'er gonna be set for life.

Your success will always hinge on other people in some way. You're not panning for gold in a river for gods sake.


You can't FORCE people like your music, pay for your website or publish your songs. You do your best to give people what they want, same as any walk of life.

You're just aiming at the public as opposed to the industry. Hardly a revolutionary idea.


Some of the things I read from you really make me question why you think you're the authority on the music industry? You want everyone to treat your opinions as gospel truth.

You wouldn't take finance advice from a homeless accountant. This is no different.

And the reason people dont listen to you is because YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BACK WHAT YOUR SAYING UP. You haven't done ish with your music. Yeah of course you say you've had opportunites that people here would suck dick to have, but you have nothing to show for it. You haven't landed your music on ANYTHING. NOBODY knows you except on FP. And I know your gonna take what I'm saying and turn it into something else, but its whatever. Thats the truth and you know it. A few people on here are way further with their music that you've ever been and probably ever will be, yet you talk like your have more knowledge and could put those people to shame 'if you wanted to.'

See this is the fundamental problem with your thinking.

Music isn't about business plans and earning forecasts. It's not accountancy where time in equals money out.

If you really love it you'll do it anyway and if you're any good you'll find a way to make it work. There is always a need for good music and quality is rewarded accordingly.

You might not get what you want but you will always get what you deserve.


People on here sometimes forget that music is still an art form and is a creative field no matter how it is presented on TV.

You all need to be honest with yourself's about why you started making music.

outside of FP, what do you even know about what troup has or hasnt done?

Im annoyed cuz this dude ACTS like he's Gods gift.

And everybody knows Troup doesnt have placements cuz he says it himself. Every thread he talks like this he says how he COULD have done this or that but didnt.. so that statement was more retarded than my argument cuz he's been saying it himself in this thread.

When Troup is droppin real knowledge and none of that arrogant BS he's seems cool but when he posts his "I'm the Dr. Dre of FP" then he turns into an @ss but I could careless about what somebody else says.........especially online.

I think the more experienced producers on here could easily "hustle" their beats if thats what he's refering to but I doubt the serious guys on here are willing to sell their souls to get in.

Stop feeding this guy attention, hope dude gets his site up and running and thats it. Its obvious Troup knows way more than we'll ever know and has experienced what we can only dream of...........

Taking the things that I've been offered are in direct conflict with my goals and priorities. So that's why I haven't taken them.


Because it would have brought me some short term "success", but in the long run, would have been a setback in me achieving my ultimate goals.
