Practice. Write raps to beats everyday, read dictionaries, go to places like Rhyme Zone, Rhyme Genie and just keep writing. There's no shortcuts.

don't use rhyme finders: they suck and stop you improving. Dictionaries help but i found most useful to be dictionary of synonyms and antonyms, helps spark ideas with me.

Have to disagree. They can show you rhymes you may have never thought of.

Most rhyming dictionary software include a synonym finder so would why would you want to avoid them? Rhyme Genie for instance has not only one of the the largest synonym finder (over 2.5 million entries) but is also the only tool that I know of that can find syllable matching synonyms. Not all rhyme finders are created equal.

Hey guys, I've been writing for about 8 years now, it just takes practice and eventually you get better and learn to match up more words and syllables in creative ways. Heres an example of some stuff I wrote recently, keep up the good work and thanks!

Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knew any tips on how i can go about practicing making complex multisyllabic rhymes? For example, potatoes - don't hate those, no way bro, rotate slow. All i can think of is really, really , really basic ones. Then again, i only got into rapping properly a few weeks ago lol. Any tips?

You're thinking too hard.

Go drink a 40 and listen to Sean Price until you get it.

rhyme is so crucial to rap, you need to be sharp. using that all your improving is your ability to type and read. unless you memorize lists but you would have to memorize hundreds of thousands. it isn't good at finding slant or mosaic rhymes aside from that its just lazy. i use a this thing called a book for synonyms and antonyms, it helps me get new ideas as i flick through and see a interesting word that could fit somewhere.

You make no sense. You say don't read rhyme dictionaries because all you do is improve your reading ability, but DO read a synonym and antonym dictionary because that is some how magically different and does help.

I'm gonna say again because I'm sure you guys thought I was being funny. If you gotta think that hard to be a rapper, you simply don't got it, sorry.

Smoke a blunt and listen to "Beast From the East" by Lost Boys.

Do a line and listen to some Eminem.

Shoot somebody, drink a cup of tea, and listen to "Dwyck" by Gangstarr

Jump in a 97 lexus and listen to "It Was Written" in it's entirety.

You'll find It's more about feeling what your writing then anything.
There should be no other reason to implement a multi syllable ryhme then to compliment the flow.

just get to a point were it feels right, or sounds right when you read it out. who ****ing cares about multi syllables?

No, I completely agree with your point. Everybody is trying to get spoonfed, when I started making beats I figured out how to do it by listening to Hip Hop. When I started rapping I again, just listened to hip hop.

i don't agree, people have their own way of going about things. Check out the movie the art of rap, some are very rigid and plan out each step. Everyone is different, weed effects some differently too so not everybody should smoke.

so you guys would suggest that i skim read a dictionary every day (prob for 30 mins a day) in order to increase my vocab? Lol, i really need new words lol. Getting tired of using very basic words to rhyme with.

Just keep practicing.practice makes perfect.Just take it easy and practice everyday.

Lol, and in response you tell me to watch a movie on rap, lol? Kids these days. No wonder rappers sound like they do these days. I'm sure the guys in the movie telling you their techniques taught themselves though polishing their own craft based off knowledge of the sound of hip hop and getting booed on the block if what they brought was wack while getting appraisal for comin' correct. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

As for the weed reference, you overlooked my point.

I guess you you have no problem with shooting someone and drinking a cup of tea? That effects most people the same...a long prison trip.

All i'm saying is, live the lifestyle, embrace the music, and find your lane. You don't go from zero to MC after a few tips and tricks. But you can go from hip hop fan to MC in a few cyphers if you already have the foundation in your heart.

also, anyone got any tips/exercises as to how i can increase my vocabulary and rhyming words? Beginning to run out of words lol.
Practice rhyming. You can't run before you walk. Once you have accomplished the latter the former will come naturally.

I totally agree. If you want to work on your technique a good rhyming dictionary is your best bet. Don't just look for perfect rhymes in a tired old paperback. Get a good software like Rhyme Genie and look for full assonance and family rhymes. Full assonance rhymes are especially useful if you want to create multi-syllabic rhymes that flow naturally.
