I recently posted a beat I made in FL 10 and one guy said it sounded like a robot made it lol and it does so what are some ways to makes sounds more well human in FL Studio 10?

I don't know FL 10 but there are tips to make things sound less robotic.

If you are using any quantize then use iterative quantize to snap it only partialy to the grid. Make sure you choose good sounds in the first place and record everything well.

The recording section might help you a bit more with this...

Bolded part is the most important I think. If you are using stock FL sounds, people will often tell you that your beats sound "robotic" or that they sound too "FL". Download some free VSTs or purchase quality ones (check VST subforum), or download some free soundfonts from Sound fonts sf2 Free download

Post the beat so we can help you out cousin, we can't really help unless we know what you mean lol

That's the one I was referring to.

Let me tell you this much, your beats are off key.
Before making music you gotta understand the difference between "off key" and "on key"
To answer your question though, to get less robotic sounds use maximus and a compressor to compress the hell out of your sounds. Of course make sure there is no distortion and solo each individual frequency to equalize the sounds. Add a limiter to your drums, mainly kick especially if its an 808, they will drown out your sounds if not compressed or limited right.

lol, I think its just because it sounds like everythings programmed. I have a tutorial on how I make my beats right here maybe this will help answer alot of your questions YouTube - ‪Making of A Falling Star‬‏ ---> For the questions it doesnt, your sounds sound very generic bro. Learn some CHORDS, CHORD PROGRESSIONS, and use instruments that sound real or like they are being played live. The sounds you use sound like some computer sounds. The piano has a weird and dehumanizing melody. Also there is a "Strum" tool in FL studio. Don't make everything sound so glitchy and jerky. Let the music "flow" this beat has like no rhythm. The drums are really flat. Use sounds that sound more live. Strings, fatter snares, better kick drums. Invest in somke quality sounds --> anything made by Native instruments, Nexus is really good, uhh. Yea. Learn scales, learn some music theory thats what set it all off for me. Download drum packages you like delete the ones you dont.

thanks ya'll i'll take a look at some tutorials and what not but i'm at the point where i feel like this shit ain't for me but we'll see.

In my opinion it sounds robotic because every noise seems to have the same velocity and attack. Try completely randomising the velocity on the hats. Change the velocity on the piano on a note by note basis by your own judgement. A subtle ghost note here and there on pianos can do wonders as well. See what it sounds like then. I reckon it'll sound a lot less robotic.

How long have you been at it? From the sounds of it you're just in the starting stages. Keep at it, if you've got passion for music then producing good music will come with time. There are plenty of free resources for samples and plugins. I'll post a couple that I use on a regular basis to get you on the right foot. Other than that, check out youtube tutorials and other resources to get a basic handle on music theory and production.

Search youtube for 'humanising your beats' or something along those lines.

Just lots of learning and practice.

For one, midi controllers help out a lot.

As most people have said, you need to get some decent VST's, the stock sounds on FL studio are very robotic in general, If you mess around with them enough you may be able to work with them but for the most part they are poor quality.

I would suggest youtubing for a few hours, type in "beat making flstudio" and there will be pages upon pages of people demonstrating how they make beats in FL studio.

It's like anything in life thats worth doing, you got to put in work and learn your trade. You can't expect to just jump on a DAW, pencil in a few notes on the piano roll and expect to be producing bangers. Keep at it though, the more you learn the more enjoyable this sh!t becomes. I'm 6 years deep and still discovering new things, I still spend countless hours reading forums and watching videos and learning more and more everyday.

Hmmm, the sounds sound like you just enabled them through a piano roll with your mouse with standard samples.
so when i just started out i did the same thing ofcourse, but it just didn't sound right.
so i just started messing around with all sorts of effects, add some reverb to add depth to sth for example?
just mess around and dont be afraid to mess up that comes naturally. and if it doesnt work out theres always a CTRL+Z button that takes it away again.

I think the critique that your beats were "robotic" was inaccurate. Leads you to an inaccurate solution. I'll give you the best "advice" I was ever given, it comes in the form of a question as it was once asked to me....

"Why don't your beats sound as good as other music I hear?"

Sounds simplistic, but until you analyze musical structure and find your own path thru a fundamental foundation, nothing can be done to "improve". A pair of hi-fi stereo headphones and a ton of albums helps me analyze structure alot more than picking up a book or watching video tutorials, but everyone learns differently. Find what works for you.

Hey man don't worry I'm in the same boat as you. I'm still new to this and every time I upload somethin theres always good and bad feedback. Take everything with a grain of salt bro. I want to be good at this just like you but remember some of the greatest guys out there missed the hoop more than they made it when they first began.
