I never asked this before, just wondering how old you all are, i just turned 22 last week. Im not ready to go into clubs yet, but in a couple years i hope to be.

how old is the average dj these days?

and how old were you when you first got a club gig?

I just turned (brrr...) 27, the average age among superstar DJs are around 40, but I'd say the overall average age is 25, perhaps?

I think I was around 21 when I did my first paying club gig.

i'm about to turn the dreaded age of 29... gettin close to that 30 word!

i started drumming about 8 years ago... then got into drum machines about 5 years ago... then into djing about 3 years ago... started spinning at parties about 2 years ago - and now play out 3-4 times a month, although some times it ends up being that many times a week!

also started throwing events - the next level in stress management!

im about to turn 13 and im just getting into it
still learning the basics

i'm 17, started when i was 15. first real gig was out of state.. haha imagine that, nerve-racking, but the night ended pretty good. haven't really gotten paying gigs, i want to play for people my age though, so i can like relate to them more, but no one really throws "real" parties out here.

turned 22 on march 12th played my first Club/bar on the following monday......just a warm up slot 9-10 thing but it was good to get my feet wet

I'm not a DJ. Just a producer, and I'm going to have my first release at the ripe old age of 30. More info to come.

I'm 28 and I just got my first DJ setup a couple months ago. Mostly because I couldn't afford it 'til I landed my 9-5. I'm never really planning on relying on DJing as a primary income stream, but man I'd love to get to spin for some crowds one day (maybe soon).

Been mixing for a good old 8 years now (and am too old not to out larging it)

18 this Friday.

Started DJing at 15/16. Its taken just over two years to build and develop a VERY unhealthy addiction to music technology.

Pissed that my 18th is on a Friday only one day off from Saturday. Damn my selfish parents! However Friday is still the second best paaaaartaaaay night of the week. There actually is one benefit to living in Britain, everything becomes legal at 18! Isnt it like 21 in the good ole US of A?

I'm 19 and a half, mixing for only 4 or 5 months, but im lucky that one of my friends is a promoter, he lets me open up every month or two, once i have exposure i'll start spittin out demo disc's to other people. Mostly doin mobile stuff right now tho

hah, i feel you on the unhealthy addiction... for a while i was droppin my whole paycheck on vinyl/gear every week

Ripe old age 15, got my first stuff when I was 14, but I didnt get serious until now. Still not good enough to preform for a group but im getting along.

Believe it or not, I have back and knee problems already. Darned athletics, ruined my guitar career as well...

Oh how age is a burden! ;)

I'm currently 15. I got into heavily into music/production/DJing when I was in Gr.6, so when I was 12. Still saving up for my DJ setup! Oooooh, I can't wait until I can afford it >.<

16, turning 17 pretty soon

also just starting out..
hopefully, ill still be at this for years to come.

You just got a 9to5? Jealous...seems like I been at this for too long.

I am 28, I just got my first paying gig this year but have been DJing for around three years now I guess.

I just started putzing around with production...
