How does the yamaha mo6 compare to the motif es6?

Im in the market to get a workstation, and the mo6 is 500$ less than the motif es 6. Does the extra 500$ buy you that much more?
 
^damn lol, no wonder. I wonder if they will drop the price on the es6 now that the xs is coming out.

I think some major retails chains already have(Guitar Center). Korg should(and need to)drop the price Triton Extreme even more because that board is getting slaughtered by the Fantom and Motif boards.
 
^^^ on the Triton... but its still a good peice... I hope they drop it... I might cop it then... muhahhhahaa!!!!
 
the triton extreme was way outta its leauge with the fantomx and the motif es. The motif ES prices have come down. You can get a ES now for 1500 for a 61 key. As far as the MO6 I will tell you guys this don't just look at it from a feature list. They had to do a lotta things to get that cost down. Features is the easy one. One other thing to consider if parts used. Cheaper D/A converters and stuff inside, this is a way all compaines not just music gear get over on consumers. Where I work at we found a company that said it could deliver a certain item 5 grand cheaper than our suppler, we took it for a test run and flexed it and discoverd that it was made with cheaper parts, crappy craftsmenship and not even a Q/A inspector looked at it. just something to consider when buying stripped down electronics.
 
Let me put a bug in you guys ear...........Yamaha owns Korg so those out there dissin it should know there are one in the same just geared towards different markets.I had a Triton when they first hit the market and still to this day it's a solid workstation.The Mo and Motif are both geared for that "now sound".It's a hot keyboard and I wouldn't trade it fro the world but,I think longjevity at least for the moment belongs to the Triton.As far as the forum question unless you have a Mp 1K or 2500,I'd say it's a well spent extra 500.One because ot's a better built board and secondly the sampling capabilities are innovative and will spark you with mad new ideas.

Lol...My first musical purchase was a Triton Studio in 2002, and it's still rolling strong after almost 5 years. Definitely a workhorse, and with MOSS and some EXB cards, it has served me well.
 
first of all.....i own a MO6, and anyone that tells you that it has fewer sounds is a moron. it has the same wave ROM as the ES. the big difference is in polyphony, and unless you can actually play the keys or are arranging hella chords in the sequencer, it will not be a problem.

Polyphony-
Motif classic: 62
MO6: 64
Motif ES: 128

same sequencer, i don't know much about the sampler on the Motif because i have always left that up to the MPC.

i'll put my MO6 beats up against any other Motif beat and let you guys decide. as far as cheaper electronics inside.....i have no idea!!! my MO6 has not hampered my creative process at all, and that is all that matters
