in reason u have different modules:
a synth called Subtractor
a sampler called nn19
a drum machine called ReDrum
a loop player called DrRex
a monophonic sequencer called matrix
a mixer to mix all your modules
you can add as many modules as you want in your project; all these modules can be hooked together using virtual patch cables: hit Tab so that you can visualize the back panel of the studio. You can root any output to any input of these modules to route you signal.
finally to create your song, you add tracks to the main sequencer, select which module to assign to that track and put your notes in there.
this is mainly how to use reason... to have more info concerning any modules of these, i advise you to take a look at the manual because there are so many things to know...
