what do you use to chop n screw? i have something that needs to be chopped n screw'd can anyone help?

Do you have FL? If so:

-Chop up your vocal sample into 1 or 2 bar segments
-Load into into FL
-Right click on the "time knob" and choose the appropriate time
-Adjust pitch, time knob might need some tweaking too

It's not an official Chop n Screw, but it syncs up vocals pretty easily.

i'm not much of a chop and screw dj, but if i wanted to, i used a program called Virtual DJ to do it. I just pitch down the songs and then you start them about one beat off from eachother (there's a grid in the program that helps you accomplish this) and then you just cut back in forth with the crossfader to chop.

Wait, are we talking about a chopped n screwed vocal on a beat? Or an entire track?

no idea....

i just gave the other answer to the question... not sure which he wants

Create two of the same vocal tracks, pull the second back just one beat (from 1 to 2), and bounce between the two tracks using mute automation or whatever.

Check out this plugin by Serato called "Pitch n' Time". Helps screw the hook up while maintaining the tempo.

I'm tryna chop n screw a hook
You tryna do it like they do in Houston (Mike Jones "Still Tippin"), or like they do it in Miami/Atlanta? (Producers like The Runners).

If the former, you sample the lyrics from a song, load it into your sampler, pitch it down a few keys to your liking, bring up the EQ and cut 30 hz - 250 hz, and 8k -16k, so the bass and hihats in the original song don't interfere with yours. At the end of the hook, you can slide your pitch bend wheel down for that turntable stop effect. By default, most pitch bends are only 2 semi tones, so you want to increase the pitch bend range to 24 semi tones (two octaves).

If it's the latter, you just sample the lyrics from an acapella, and put it in Serato like Ill Beatnezz recommended. Though most producers use a pitch plugin called "VariSpeed", which is in Pro Tools.

okay, highlight the part your tryna screw, go to ummm...(i havent been on my computer with protools in a while)...there should be a title at the top called AUDIO, and to the left of it it has file, edit, etc...then under audio there is sumtin called pitch shift...click that, then a lil pop up will show...there should be a few sliders, and one of them will say semi, and i believe fine is under it...just slide the semi-tone slider back til u like how it sounds and there you go....i hope i got the names right, u kno after doin it so much u just 4get the titles n all that lol...but i think thats right...

oh n 2 chop it...well, just make another track with the screwed vocals and chop it up lol..then layer it over the original...ull have to chop up the original one too tho....

i hope that helps

Depending on what needed chopping, I find a knife or similar sharp bladed object would usually suffice.

To screw (again depending on the actual screw) I would either go for a flat head screwdriver or phillips screwdriver.

i just get the vocal sample i want...pitch it down but keep the same tempo

i just press the keys if i wanted to be lower or higher.
