Yes... hence its an INTERPOLATION....

Kanye got Ken Lewis to play what he wanted him to play. Why is that "sad" ??

He had to do all that for just one song, but I know it was pretty fun to see how it turned out.

he does sample in any definition. he has people replay the sample in rare occasions . but he doesnt sample in the sence that he has a dude that finds samples ,loops, and records for him, the other dude even chops up the parts for kanye to use.

It doesn't matter... Kanye knows how to make beats, period.

Unlike some others worshipped around here.

well, Jay-Z tracks Kanye did were samples straight up. and wasn't "through the wire" a straight sample from Chaka Khan? so he did sample he probably did interpolations also

I remember reading that evidence did the beat for last call. It's supposed to be in the credits. Evidence found the sample, made a beat, hit kanye off, kanye liked it and they turned it into a song. I searched to find that specific detail listed in the interview but dont remember the source.

I did however find another place that acknowledges this:

“Last Call” co-produced by Evidence of Dilated Peoples is a unique song in which Kanye describes his journey from Chicago to New York City and success. He talks about his getting signed to the Roc and the other labels who missed out or tried to play him. It’s a biographical account of how he got into the business and he shows that with persistence you can do anything.

^^^^^Leeroytanaka is right I was just about to post it, because I have that CD and I read it off the credits. Kanye used the ASR-10 and the mpc 2000 combo when he first started to produce. Probably has a team that does it all for him now, but his style is to speed up vocals (chipmunck sound) and play them over soul beats. I loved that Last Call track.

Yeah obviously he just completely ripped Jesus Walks and Two Words. If its that easy to just rips stuff and loop it and make an amazing song and beat, why is it he's the one of the only ones that do it right.

bobsmitt, how does kayne not "make beats", which in itself is a very vague term. Bob rock isn't with metallica on stage but does that mean he didn't play an integral part in their success?

I find it interesting that people cannot fathom that people use a team to create their music. Although from a marketing point of view i can see how it may take away from your sales. Thats the reason photo's of dre''s production team isn't on the cover, or inside cover of his albums. They were probably even lucky to get credit for playing. Even though, arguably they had more to do with creating the music than he did. Without dre, they wouldn't be where they are, and without out them well i imagine he wouldn't have had the same success. Its a symbiotic relationship. The team makes the whole result stronger, there are not too many prince's/stevie wonders in this world.

Anyway dope description of how they made the track, really gives me some ideas to try myself.
