Explain to me how you can't just stop what you're doing and go to LA?

If you want these cats to stop what they're doing to listen to your music and give you a chance you have to be willing to go the same lengths.

You need to get much more realistic.

Niggas aint ****ing with this "sit at home" producer ****.

If you aren't out here trying to get it like they are its no shot for you.

Well i dont bug people cuz i dont want them buggin me.lol if i hit somebody up its gonna be worth hitting them up cuz i dont like for people to hit me unless its worth it.
 
The last time I've talked to a real A&R, he said he loves getting calls and emails from upcoming talent... he just loves it. He has multiple numbers so its not like they blowing up his personal phone. if he busy? Leave a message. Don't blow up A&R phone numbers saying "sign me, sign me..I'm new hotness" or any shyt like that, especially if yo don't have the talent to back it up as ctease said. It is only going to hurt you in the future.
 
On the real...calling/emailing someone you don't know aint no "contact"....yall actin like Chase tryna stop yall from making it n sh*t, but it's really just Business ethics.

This sh*t kinda pulling girls fam...you gotta do it in person first.

You can't just call a girl up or even email her and expect her to take you serious my nigga. You gotta have met her before...

Either that or get someone she can trust to refer you, other than that your chances are slim to none.(more leaning towards none)

Same sh*t with these A&Rs, it's just unethical period, to be calling cats you don't know...
 
I know this particular thread will spark some real serious beef very soon. You watch for it. Axis, like I said before. Be careful what you share with the public next time.

That's true for some A&R's.
 
Ron Fair isn't an A&R.

And Erica isn't a typical A&R.

They have artists that are on the labels.

These artists are generating dollars for the label.

An A&R isn't always someone looking for new talent for these labels.

They're there to keep these artists that are the top money makers going in a top money making direction over a long period of time.

See but that is their job you see? They get paid to recruit talent. They aren't stopping anything. They are setting themselves up for some more money. Talent = money in this case.

I can see where Chase and cats are coming from. However, if you do recieve an A&R's number in whatever way is there a possible way to proffesionally contact even if you're not signed to Zone 4 or don't have any big name contacts? This is an honest question to Chase or as20gp, because it seems like you guys are saying that calling isn't goin to get anyone anywhere and I have heard plenty of instances where people have gotten meetings and jobs or palcements by calling persistantly (not abusively.)

Any ways that is a good question your propose. Next people are going to say "emails aren't going to get you no where, phone isn't going to get you anywhere, word of mouth won't get you anywhere, television won't get you anywhere, you have to meet them face to face!"

So what? If you meet them face to face the have to talk to you, and you automatically are going to make it? Come on now, how do we know that a phone call, or an email won't arrange a meeting? Vice versa.

I believe if everything is rite.. things will fall into place

I wouldn't call anybody or contact anybody if I didn't get the number directly

I don't feel its professional

an e-mail address is a little diferent because its not as personal

when u give somebody ur fone ur saying " u have access to reach me at any reasonable time"

so when the numbers are getting handed out.. its not a good look.

all my meetings were based on me BEING in a studio, recording keys, common conversation

never random.. I can't rock like that

its just tacky to me..

I feel if u aren't willing to travel and make sacrifices then u must re-evaluate ur situation

this is still a peoples business.. no matter how big the internet is getting

Exactly, so who are we to judge if destiny has in store that someone reading this very page calls Ron and becomes the next big thing? Alternatively speaking as well.

If someone refers you to someone, you take the advantage professionally. Emails are just as personal as phone numbers, actually believe it or not, someone can receive more information from an email than a phone number.

What if someone went and met an A&R left the office, then gave everyone he knows all the contact info? What is the difference?
