Help wit this mpc2000xl

I just started using my mpc..got disk wit drum kit..trying to make my own kit and then tweak the sounds..any suggestions?

i think the 2000xl has pad link were each sound on a pad is linked and then when you play one pad they all trigger adding a layer effect to produce a thicker sound. On kicks for instance a heavy 808 i would use a low pass filter and set the cutoff low on it so just enough of the low end is being heard and Do a a high pass on a punchier kick and just maybe leave the third the way it is. i dont know maybe the xl had pad layering were u can cycle threw different sounds on just one pad which would be easier and faster but then u can just use one filter on it so be aware of choosing proper kicks that are not in the same freq range. well read the manuel sample breaks off records and slice them, or cut them inside a daw for prefection and export them at 16 bit (has to be 16 since the 2000xl is a 16 bit sampler), and load them in
