Having a problem mixing 808 bass into a song

ive been making a beat with a sampled low passed, and a bit of high pass to take out the lows. The kick is also cut around 50hz. I took the attack out of the 808 just to get the sub. But for some reason the bass when it comes in is very granular, and doesnt come out clean. Ive sidechained it to the sample as well as the kick. this is the kind of bass sound im going for:

Have you checked your levels? Does the 808 cause the master to peak or crush the master limiter too hard?
 
it doesnt cause anything to peak. I think its just a bad fit, sound wise. Decided to dump the sound and found a different bass. thank you tho
 
I usually distort my basses with parallel distortion when I wanna get that huge sound yet still fit it in the mix. two parallel distortions in a row can work in interesting ways
