^^^^Thers so many to choose from but I guees Ill throw this one out there

I remember Marvin Gay, usta sing ta me
He had me feelin like black was tha thing ta be
And suddenly tha ghetto didn't seem so tuff
I thought we had it rough, we always had enough
I often huffed and puffed about my curfew and broke tha rules
Ran with tha local crew and had a smoke or two
And realize momma really paid tha price
She nearly gave her life, ta raise me right
And all I had ta give her was my pipe dreams
Of how i'd rock tha mic and make it to tha big screen
I'm tryin ta make a dollar out of fifteen cents
It's hard ta be legit and still pay tha rent
And in tha end it seems i'm headin for tha penn
I try and find my friends, but they're blowin in tha wind
Last night my buddy lost his whole family
It's gonna take tha man in me
Ta conquer this insanity
It seems tha rain will never let up
I try ta Keep My Head Up and still keep from getting wet up
You know it's funny when it rains it pours
They got money for wars, but can't feed tha poor
Sad there ain't no hope for tha youth and tha truth is
There ain't no hope for tha future
And then they wonder why we crazy
I blame my mother, for turning my brother into a crack baby
We ain't meant ta survive, cause it's a setup
And even though ya fed up
Ya got ta Keep Ya

I'll post the his whole verse but I said one line so I put the one line in bold. I'll let you read the rest of his verse cause it's all ill.

Yo
Picture bloodbaths and elevator shafts
Like these murderous rhymes tight from genuine craft
Check the print, it's where veterans spark the letterings
Slow moving MC's is waitin for the editin
The liquid soluble that made up the chemistry
A gaseous element, that burned down your ministry
Herbal vapors, and biblical papers
Smokin Exodus, every square yard is plush
**** the screw-faced photo sessions facial expression
Leaves impressions, try to keep a sharp nigga guessin
Give crazy shouts Son here's the outcome
Cut across the semi-gloss rhymes you floss
**** is outdated, just like neckloads of Sterlings
Suede-fronts, bell-bottoms, and tri-colored Shearlings
I ain't particular, I bang like vehicular homicides
On July 4th in Bed-Stuy
Where money don't grow on trees and there's thievin MC's
Who cut-throat to rake leaves
They can't breathe, blood splash, rushin fast
Like runnin rivers, I be that whiskey in your liver

I know it is preference but GZA is trash. Like he spittin some shyt thats supposed to be sophisticated but I cant help but get the feelin that rappers like that are rhymin versions of that nigga in jail from in living color. The liquid soluble that made up the chemistry? GTFOH wit that **** go read a book if you need your music to seem so sophisticated it's stupid.

Yo and this song from face is disgusting. GZA aint never been and never will be this relevant. And I know it seem like I am putting him down but, well I am.

I read an interview with Darko Milicic recently and he said "I know I am not as good as Lebron, Melo, or Wade..." He get recognition for who he came in with but you shouldn't confuse him with greats. Same goes for GZA.

Face - Crack

They say the world is a ghetto, I'm witnessin a generation die
By poverty sickness and homicide
Now momma on the front pew, askin the preacher why
Like he knowin what it's like to be hated and criticized
And sharks in the water create you the wrong way
when you're a target, see that's how these niggaz out here behave
I hate to go to funerals, I never visit graves
Cause I'm knowin that through this dirt that you can't hear me when I say
that I love you dawg, and out of all them power moves I coulda made
I focused on keepin your family straight
I, po' out some liquor so you don't go out forgotten
I'm drownin off in this bottle, tryin to solve my ****in problems
New days changes, different than how it was
We upped it from stealin cars to hustlin, dealin drugs
I've seen a whole lot of good niggaz die
Cause the ghetto took advantage when situations provide

The little kids in the hood live a life with no outlets
Rap or ball playin to survive
Devils in disguise in the fact that a nigga's broke
Makes him more prone to drop out of school and **** with dope
With hopes of gettin paper and chasin his ****in dream
But America's got us dyin for it waitin for relief
The penitentiaries is filled to the max
with my people who tried to make it out but never made it back
Crack, to see yo' momma doin bad
Hit as hard as you see it, yo' daddy sittin on his ass
doin nothin, **** it, that's when them tears start rushin
White powder in the coffee pot bubblin, hustlin
I know exactly where you at dawg
Out there on the corner where the rats crawl
It's my life

Don't post a GZA line/verse out of respect. Please

lol GZA had 1 good album, some decent verses on Enter the Wu-Tang.., and a good guest apperence on the Think Differently Compilation..

he's not has emotional as Sigel
he dont got a swag like Jadakiss
he's not as heartfelt as Face or Pac..

he's a good lyricist.. but not a good artist.. he has nooo swag.. out of all the Wu-Tang Members.. at least most of em have swag, style, flare.. Gza, Master Killa, & Inspectah Deck.. all great lyricists.. but there straight boring afterawhile..

GZA is one of those dudes that thinks you should be hard every waking minute of your life. Stand around and mean mug. Never dance. Don't laugh too hard. Never show emotion.

He should hang out with Luke for awhile and lighten up...

lol that just reminded me of that Katt Williams standup.

"niggas waking up madd.. its 7 in the mornin, wat u mad at.. Breakfast???!"

I was one of those dudes...

I was in a funk over a situation and that ish just lingered over my whole life... for a minute. (few months)

I shook that shat now, lol. Happy Days.

I had to learn about irrational thoughts first though... I was making up a lot of problem ish in my head... in my little world... then I screwed around on the web and found that a lot of people make up irrational shyt in their heads... but they don't try to do anything about it.... so they stay mad... at... breakfast...

The reason I could careless about Wu Tang and their obsessed fan base.

I really dont think GZA in a space to talk about 50 like that. GZA flow is not what most people want to hear. He might have some prolific sht to say but dam his flow is slower than slowpoke rodriguez.

I think Power of the Dollar by 50 cent is a classic album. I think GZA was kinda drunk talkin sht. We can argue all day about whats is "real HipHop" but like everything else in the world HipHop is bound to change with time.

Some will love the change and some will hate it. Just understand that we live in a different world and just have to adapt to it to gain power.

For example he can switch up his flow like lil wayne did for example and make people listen to him. Some times you have to dumb down/switch your flow and make music for the masses ....... once you get their attention then you and drop a few Jems ....but u not gona get lot of people on your side spittin some complicated sht.

lmao at the Wu game... but saying he had a great album is giving him to much credit. I didnt listen to it but if it included anything like that sample Phenix gave I wouldn't have been feelin it. Being complicated for no reason makes not a great lyricist. I consider a great lyricist as someone who is great lyrically but not necessarily song wise ala (Crooked I being as he has a couple threads today) Someone like Royce, someone who is known to be a beast but for whatever reason their album leaves something to be desired. GZA is none of the above.

Gza was a nigga that the rest of the Wu was a lil scared of so when he spit something they was too scared to send his ass back in the booth or out the studio altogether. No way you can compare Gza to any great rapper not one, there are at a minimum 50 way better rappers and then another 50 that I would put ahead but on those last 2 or 3 I would probably let him into the argument.

lol now now..

Liquid Swordz was a GREAT album..

i remember reading that RZA said that GZA could compete with Rakim & Big Daddy Kane.. i was like "get da fuk outta here wit that bullsh*t"

hes good.. but not a legend.. just a legendary crew member

It might seem like I'm knocking GZA in this thread but I used to like him at first...

I just thought they got a little carried away with the "cartoony" aspect of WU Tang. I couldn't take them seriously after awhile.

I have Liquid Swords, I played it once. I have a wife that rides around with me... no way that abstract, depressing ish would fly in the whip. lol.

She'll listen to Scarface, Cube and Pimp C though... I play a lot of Southern artists... love to play Chunk Up Da Duece by Paul Wall and them... LOUD!

I never been a Wu fan nor a Mobb Deep fan. Ghostface voice to me was annoying but it has grown on me, Rae was cool, Meth was ill, ODB was crazy then after that I don't wanna hear anything else from Wu. Like I hate when bars don't really rhyme. Like if you aren't gonna rhyme once or twice cool but as often as GZA and Prodigy does that shyt its annoying.

I don't know what it is but a lot of people try to ride off of their initial releases and underground material before they got signed. I liked Mobb Deeps TAPE with Shook Ones on it... after that, I didn't care about 'em much.

It seems like artists can get it right the first time... but after that... they don't come close. Maybe it's just me wanted more of the same I guess. Maybe photo shoots and autograph signings don't allow them to be as creative as they were when nobody knew 'em.

Jay Z, WU, Mobb Deep... a lot of others too. Snoops first one was bangin' but he stayed kind of consistent. He's a hit single man now though.

naw i like GZA.. but i just dont like when people hype him up to a level beyond immunity.. hes not of the God MCs..

and N Luv Wit My Money by Paul Wall & Chamillionaire still gets love in the ride..
