Alot of you need to stop worrying about who's the greatest rapper of all time, and go back to school and learn to read and write. I think somebody said that Nas has the best lerrics and beets, I hope the guy was just kidding, cause that's just sad...
The greatest rapper of all time is 2Pac, until he's dethrowned.
Biggie was good, but overrated, and his legacy would be far less if he hadn't been murdered.
I wanted to put Nas in the number two spot, because he's been around for so long, and alot of the newer guys hadn't put out as much to compete with him yet, but then i got smart. Eminem has put out two good albums, and 1 great album, and alot of Em's best **** is his underground, unreleased, and unpublicized collaborations that most rap fans have never heard.
Em only got as big as he is because he's white, but that's the same reason that people will never consider him one of the greatest rappers of all time. People pay too much attention to Em's appearance, and not enough attention to his incredible lyrical ability. Basically what i'm trying to say is that if Em was black, he'd be near the top of almost everybody's list...
While virtually all other rappers either write song after song about the same ole ****, (Ganglife, and Bling Bling) Eminem is one of the most versatile rappers of all time.
My list goes like this...
1. Tupac Shakur, great lyricist, storyteller, and songwriter...
2.Eminem, No rapper has done so much in so little time, one of the greatest lyricists, and freestylists ever, the most versatile rapper ever.
3. Nas, anybody that denies Nas' legend in rap is ignorant, and in denial, great songwriter...
4. Biggie, Even though I think he's overrated, I can't deny that his first and only two albums were hot, and his legacy in the rap game is hard to ignore.
5. Jay-Z, I think there are numerous rappers with as much, or far more talent than Jay-Z, but Jay-Z consistently comes out with hit albums full of hit songs year after year, and that can't be ignored.
Other solo rappers or rap groups that deserve props.
Outkast, versatile, consistent, and always coming out with good **** that doesn't sound anything like what everybody else is doing, but it still sells, and it's still hot as ****...
The Roots, most people aren't familiar with them, great beats, good songs, great flow, alot of culture and art in their lyrics, alot of versatility, they rap about emotion, and not money, that's always a plus...
Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Blackstar is the bomb, Mos Def is one of the greatest freestyle rappers to ever live. Like the roots, their songs are deep, they mean something, and they always have a valuable message. Powerful, inspiring ****...
Snoop, i'd never put him up with the greatest rappers, but he's still one of my favorites, and he's just a damn pimp, I think we all need another album in comparison to Doggystyle to drop and than we can talk about his place on the list, he'll definitely never be forgotten, he's everywhere, and he's probably one of the most popular rap artists of all time...
Everyone in the Wu-Tang Clan, I don't even need to explain why I give them props, they're just awesome... C-R-E-A-M
That's it, like it or not, Lewis Da Pimp...
