What's a good mixer for a beginner? My budget would be under 300
 
what kind of music are you planning on playing? do you want to scratch?
 
Hmm, hip hop. Yeah, i wanna scratch and mix. Mainly scratch.
 
What about the Vestax PCV-003? It's pretty cheap (on 123dj.com)
 
the pcv-003 is not good for scratching, because there's no curve control on the crossfader. curve control means you can set how fast and how loud the other channel will come in as you move the crossfader. for hiphop scratching you need to be able to set the crossfader to as short a curve as possible. that's how hiphop scratch dj's are able to cut so quick.
 
Oh, so you mean, you can still hear the "beats" record while flipping back and forth?

I agree with the above statement. Especially since I happen to have a SK-2F Limited Edtion for sale in the buy/sell/trade forum. haha. And I'm asking well under the $300 price tag you have set.
