Now everyone here is into production, and I'm sure alot of us have girlfriends. Now everyone knows that girlfriends want all of our time. But we really want to spend more time making beats.Who has some ideas how to get a better girlfriend/making music ratio?I find the only way I can get time sometimes is to start a meaningless fight with my woman so she'll storm out of the house and not talk to me for a day.Presto!! I get a whole day to make beats, and just have to make her dinner,or buy her some chocolate the next day.i wouldn't recommend using this trick too often,or you might find yourself lonely...thanks to CZ for the idea for this post....peace..fbz

Take her out, wine her, dine her, take her to a show, give her flowers, candy and sweet lovin' and then spend the whole of the next day in the studio. She can't get mad at you 'cause you were so nice to her the night before.

Expensive but effective.

DUMB HER, BUST HER *** (only if she is ugly) SHE IS USING U ! ! ! (>_<) .........

Now ok, dont listen to me, im frontin....

lol ?

what i do with my lady is explain to her that she is important to me and that i love her
i let her know she is special in my life and that i need to make music to be happy
we used to fight about it cause she confessed to me that all the time i spent making music made her jealous
i just sat her down right there when she said that and said
listen
i love making this music
it is a part of who i am
without it i will not be complete
and the same way i feel about making music i feel about her
i let her know that she is in my heart and tried to meet in the middle about time and spending it away from making music
relationships are put to alot of stress when there is only a single approach to the solution
dumping her would suck for me because she is my secret inspiration
try to invite her to make something with you
it works
or better yet make a song for her and save your lil kiss *** candy money and buy some new equipment
any girl would love a custom made song
and after that she will chill
peace

You make me feel warm from the inside, kiss that gf of urs for me :o

my fiance' and i don't have any problems with my music habits. however i can say that she is the first to really understand (she's an artist as well, but not with music)...i've had gf get pisseed and destroydays worth of work of me wanting an hour to finish something instead of going to the movies. i've had gf's do just about everything you can imagine to come between me and music.

i'm engaged to a woman that supports me in my music, and the ratio of time i spend on/with each is perfect...if i want to spend more time with music, i do, if i'd rather spend more time with her, i do....if its a struggle now with her, it will always be a struggle.

Hmm, a tricky question. Due to studies, my girlfriend lives in another town nearby so I only see her on weekends. It's great, cause the weekends we have are top time together and I get a 2 day break from music. So basically I can make music all day, 5 days a week and relax on the weekend. Perfect balance. :D

My girlfriend works Friday and Saturday nights, so I usually stay home 1 of those nights and work on music through 'till like 4 in the morning.

Collect a few years of newspapers, lots of canned goods and bottled water, then dump your girlfriend and lock yourself in nicely loaded cabin with its own generator and make hermit beats. all music all the time, no interuptions - ever. HERMIT BEATS: NOT JUST A TYPE OF MUSIC... A WAY OF LIFE!

operator ;)

...those newspapers make for good insulation during the long winter months...

Bring her in with you...

Show her the dark ways... She will be over whelmed by the mass of buttons, blinking lights, and dails..(Ahh, heaven!)....PRolly getting all confused, she will sit and stare dumbfounded..... (If all goes to plan)..it takes a special kind opf person to produce.... peoepl who don't love it, can't cope with it.. hehe...... or just wine her, dine her, wine her some more, and leave her passed out on teh couch....

Great idea operator. instead of newspapers, should be porno mags, though.
and Rayne, I think the only part about those magical lights, buttons and knobs, that my girlfriend can enjoy is that some of the lights go up and down with the music.

my oh my.... lets reflect, shall we?
a thread entitled 'girlfriend training'...

wanna know the secret? date a medical student. not only is she so busy with school I get a lot of time for music, but my future finances are looking pretty solid as well! :D
seriously though, you've got to have balance. make sure it's not a competition, and make sure she knows that. ultimately it depends on how serious you are with the girlfriend, but if it's for real, then expect the occasional conflict. make sure your girlfriend knows this isn't just some "phase" you're going through, and how therapeutic it is for you to spend time writing music. if she has any hobbies or artistic endeavours, make sure you use that to your advantage. have days when you can each do your thing. most importantly, DON'T IGNORE HER! It can be difficult at first, but it's really not that hard in the long run if she's important to you and it's nice to have her support if things aren't going that well with music...

My solution is to (attempt to) make a living off of making music. It's tough at first but it can be done if you are persistant. After all, a fella has to do something to make a living. You might as well do what you love for 8 hours a day and spend the rest of the time with the one you love.

Dreamin' on,

Suggested solutions:
Go out with a really ugly bird. She'll be grateful for any attention at all.

Give up on having a girlfriend for a year or two, become a successful musician/producer and then spend your time beating them off with a schitty stick (I'm still hoping this might happen).

Get into the habit of only needing 4 hours sleep a night. That way you can, errr.... tuck her in and kiss her good night and then make music for another 3 to 4 hours.
