Getting your name known

Qaulity product ( your music), investing in a diversified marketing plan (that means time AND $$), and plain old hard work. Period.

Getting hot placements. If you can't do that, find underground niggas that compliment your style perfectly, make some classic records and just throw them out there. That way, whenever somebody thinks of you, they think of them

Don't sit at home and wait for people to call or email you, tellin' you that they want a copy of your shyte. GET OUT THERE.

Shows, shows, shows. Work. If you're starting from scratch, then book the little bars and clubs that'll let you rock. DO EVERY SHOW AS IF YOU WERE PERFORMING AT THE GRAMMYS.

If you're performing like garbage because you're upset that there are only 10 people in the bar and only two of them are paying attention to you, then you'll not attract attention. You attract attention by making noise. In this case, make it good noise.

If someone at any of your shows comes up to you when you get off stage telling you that they like your stuff, TARGET THEM. Give them your email, tell them what website your stuff is posted on. TELL THEM WHERE YOUR NEXT PERFORMANCE IS AND TELL THEM TO BRING FRIENDS!! Ask them if they'll help you spread the word. Give them business cards, flyers, even free CDs. Even if you wanna just give them a two-song CD, do it!

GIVE IT YOUR ALL AT EVERY SHOW AND CONNECT WITH THE PEOPLE THAT APPRECIATE WHAT YOU DO. Establish a relationship with your fans and ask them to spread the word.

Burn a shyteload of CDs and hit the busiest intersections in your city on weekends. SELL SELL SELL! Have friends and family members help you by selling at your shows and on different corners than you're on. When you sell a CD, tell them about the upcoming shows. If someone purchases from you, get their name and tell them you'll put them on the "guest list" to get in free to your next show, even if you have to pay for their entrance into the next show, they won't know it.

No one is gonna come to your living room to hear you perform. You must go out to where the people are and perform FOR THEM. Don't stop or take a break. You've got to work for it.
