getting kicks like young chop (or anyother good producer....)

Im pretty sure chop has an engineer....Far as the kick,all it is is a kick from one of the soundclick producers kit,sso vybe or johnny juliano....their drumkits have some of the same identical kicks chop uses as well as raises etc......minus the mixing... trust me.. and tip# if u want your kick to be punchy and stand out,make every other instrument besides the snare -15 db and lower...
 
All you have to do is layer two drums together hitting at the exact same time and crank the velocity up as high as they go add a 808 and thats the young chop drum sound
 
ive gotten pretty good sounding kicks out of shitty sound packs with just eq. compression also..
 
In a few months that kick is played out, you are better of creating your own signature drums
 
Are you talking about the kicks or the 808 behind the kicks? The kicks he uses are pretty basic.. Just go through a bunch of drumkits and you'll find it.. Also learn to mix well ..
 
All his kick have a punch that no one else has. It must be a compressor setting or something. The 808 is just compressed and then eq's but the Kick, i don't know man im pretty sure it compressor settings but he just mixes well. Listen to this snare is has a

I know how to compress kicks but seriously. It can't be all engineering ?
 
propably said million times already but compressor is the trick...that's what i do atleast. you just have to know how to set those knobs.
 
Your master channel settings are key from what i;ve made as of late. EQ around 185-285 to find the punch of the kick about a 1 to 3 db increased pending on the sound you're looking for and i've gotten some good mixes messing with that.
 
As previously stated you need to layer your drums.
You can also try adding a very short and tight reverb to one of your kicks.
This takes bit a way from the kick's "boom" but adds warm to the highs and increases the fidelity (That's why you need to layer it with a kick with a strong bass).
