G funk whistle

does anybody know what vst can make that westcoast p funk/g funk synth whistle sound? like dr dre's chronic album
 
Any synth or plugin that has a saw wave of some sort can do it. Just take a saw wave patch, put the settings on legato put glide on and use a filter effect to cut off some of the high or low end. Also try to use pitch bend put the bend on 12 or 24.

Some programs I use for these kind of leads: Minimonsta, Sonik Synth 2and Hypersonic 2.

Exactly. You only need 2 oscillators to make it fatter. Instead of using 2 sawtooth oscillators you can also use one saw and one square.
 
im not fimiliar with saw tooth and square and oscillators. Do you know where i can find a tutorial about them or can anyone tell me about them?
 
i think a sawwave would sound to harsh for a g-funk sound, try a sinewave/triangle with a high octave
 
Indeed that's another option.
But remember a filtered sawtooth sounds less harsh too... :)
And notice that a sine it will imho sound too soft (lack of harmonics); a triangle is definitely better for this kind of sounds - I'll take back my saw-square proposal and replace it by saw-triangle.
 
Nearly every single westcoast sounding lead you will ever need is in Native Instruments FM7.. cop this jem and you'll be bangin out mind blowing melodies with the range of instruments. But if i was you just wait and get the FM8 cuz that's gonna be nice too. ;)

i use in FL:
Sytrus Shapes (u can use all of them)
when u read this (huhhhh...sytrus shape???), it looks cheap, but when u use the Porta and Mono buttons, u can make the EXACT sound!! and it doesnt sound toyishh
note: if u dont use the porta and mono button, u will hear da "click" , and thatz ****ed
