I'm not trying to knock them or anything, but I would go for a more mainstream brand. Is there any particular reason why you are interested in them?

I agree with the above post. I have HEARD of American DJ, but I don't know of anyone who uses thier gear. Stick with, in this order:
1)Technics SL1200MKII or M3D (same table, essentially)~$500
2)Vestax PDX-2000(yes, INFERIOR to Techs!!! I think I just started a war)~$500
3)Numark Pro-TT2~$400
4)Stanton STR8-80
5)Gemini PT-2400 (or PT-2100)
6)Numark Pro TT-100~$260
7)Stanton STR8-60~$230
8)Numark TT-1520~$200
9)Gemini XL500II~$200
10)Stanton STR8-50~$160
The prices are APPROXIMATE. They CAN vary from dealer to dealer, but that'z just my personal opinion pecking order.
Seeing as how I don't see many dealers pushing/advertising American DJ, I would tend to stay away from it. You could probably find another comperable table from the list above that is more well known.

i just wanted to have move of my setup all the same brand....i just like that idea, so im trying to see which brand i want to go with.......and adj has a lot of equpment......if anyone has any better ideas let me know......not technics or vestax, but i think you knew i was going to say that.....but i like the idea of the "fader start" .....to accompany the cd players......so i want a brand with that feature.......

there'z really no benifit to having all of your gear the same brand. Each company has specialties. Technics makes good (duh) turntables, but not much else (headphones?)Pioneer makes good DJ CD players and mixers, Vestax - good turntables and mixers, Numark - good mixers, Stanton - carteridges.
Most of these companies make a full line of gear, but have certain things that they do best, and it's a better idea to assemble an all-star line, within your budget.

From experience, the American DJ Audio line has worked really well for me. I have played with their CD players, and actually own a PRO DJ 2 System and have had no problems whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I had problems with my Denon 2000s and Pioneer 100s and the ADJs are still working like a charm. For the price you cannot go wrong! Also look out for the Pro Scratch 1 that they have out, it is the closest you can get to a turntable.
I have also played with their DD turntables and given they don't compare to the technics (nobody currently does), you are getting a great "bang for the buck".

how do the decks compare to, say the gemini pt2000 or the numark tt1's........are they even close with the banana cartridges....??

I like the Numark TT1s, they work really well. I haven't played with the Geminis so I can't give you any advice. Regarding the ADJs, buy it w/o the banana cartridge and purchase a third party cartridge like shure or stanton. If you can afford it, buy the TT1, or even better the Technics 1200s. The ADJ TTD-2500 MKII sells for $189, which is decent. BUT, the Stanton Str8-60s are the same price with cartridge! Decisions, decisions!

Gemini PT's are solid. sik_breakz is right about mixing and matching. An all AMD set wouldn't be maximizing your capabilities. Besides, 99% of DJ equipment is compatible. My main set consists of a pair of 1200's, stanton carts, gemini mixer, sony headphones, and some other bits and pieces. Mixing and matching is nothing to be leery about.

my point exactly. that'z why "dj packages" are cheaper. they are willing to take a loss by discounting thier equipment for a a "package" deal, but it's beneficial to the company cuz you are buying EVERYTHING from them, and hence, they are making money they typically wouldn't.
