Fl Studio questions

I was just practicing with it the other night to get used to it and made a simple piano melody. I then made a patch with Sytrus one of the included VST's and arranged it on the same notes on the piano roll. However I sliced them into half notes instead of whole notes, when I tried playing it out it only hit as a whole note? I tried making them quarter notes and they still sounded like whole notes. Another question I had was that after the third bar any sounds I put on the piano roll wouldn't play. I tried putting some more notes down and a snare drum but they did not work. Can anyone tell me whats going on? I'm using the demo version btw.
 
About the first question, I really can't say what is the problem, as I don't use Sytrus.

About the second, maybe you'll need to raise the bar lenght? By default, it comes without a lenght attributed to it, so you must do it manually.
